I was looking at replacong my aging dgm 24" I got here when they were touted as a very good monitor, its faired well but was thinking of a 27" Would this be a good monitor for gaming? I know the DGM was an 8ms va monitor aswell so just need someone elses view before I buy one :D

I have till next week anyway

so no replies? so is my DGM 24 any better than this as I'm gonn abuy one monday so need help

The one iam looking at has an 8ms grey to grey response time but the one you have mentioned just states 1ms response which i gather is a gimmick. whats putting me off the tn panel is the poor viewing angles that will be more noticable on a 27"
If i remember correctly you owned the exact same.dgm monitor as me so u will know what i mean about how good it was with viewing angles, pardon my spelling using my.phone.

I wouldn't spend my money on an "upgrade" like that because it is more like a sidegrade. You gain no resolution so what is the point? Better save up some more and get a 27" with a higher resolution. I own a 27.5" Hanns G and while it is serving me well and is comparable to the Iiyama, when put next to a 23" IPS screen with a similar resolution, it looks blurry and "blown up". A 27" is nice but you really need a higher resolution for it to get much advantage (though granted gaming is more immersive).
Who cares about response times, you'll never see any difference in practice unless you game competitively.

I bought this monitor and had to send it back. I too have the 24 inch DGM and wanted a 27 inch one. But the IIyama Prolite X2775HDS was a big dissapointment, I got motion sickness from it, also there was a weird colour thing happening to fast moving images, the darker images or shadows would go red and would linger on the screen for a split second, rendering the monitor useless (in my view) to watching movies or playing games.

The DGM despite using the same panel technology doesn't have that. I think it has to do with the DGM being MVA and the iiama being just VA, not sure really.

Well it came yesterday & it gave me a travel sickness feeling so its now awaiting collection & I'm gonna get the TN version instead.

The overdrive feature works ok but not the best so when your ingame & spin round its like your constantly trying to catch up with yourself. It has presets on the overdrive aswell as manually setting to your own preference, sadly not even manually tweaking worked so its back to teh DGM till I get refunded :D

Lol, I'm still on my DGM too after sending my X2775 back. I really wanted to like the X2775, the colours and contrast were top notch which is a shame, I tried all the different settings but nothing worked. I'm thinking of getting the new Samsung PLS monitor, either that or the Dell IPS.

This is probably one of my worse buys, well no my vw polo was but thats a car :D roll on the next test ;) may save up for the hazro or just get the Iiyama ProLite E2773HDS as the dgm cant have much life left in it

My DGM has developed these very noticeable vertical lines, you see them most when the screen is dark.

I you follow the dgm thread you will find that its all curable if you have some capacitors replaced in the psu.

I have one and I love it

Really? :p

My own findings from today...

The E2773HDS is appealing... :p

so why is my old dgm so good then, well I have the E2773HDS but not set it up yet due to it being xmas yesterday and a little 2 year old boy wanting his toys instead :)

It depends on the situation and nature of pixel transition. It may be that the Iiyama has a relatively poor overdrive implementation compared to the DGM. The most problematic transitions are the high-contrast one (highlighted in my video and perhaps at some points in the videos posted previously) which no amount of grey to grey acceleration will improve.

@ pcm2 & sunlitsix, so did you 2 buy one to test? I have found nothing to compare the good dgm too, maybe a Hazro 27 or the Dell 24" ips screens will do it.

The X2775HDS has a much higher contrast ratio than older VA panels (such as your DGM). One noticeable side-effect of this is the kind of 'high contrast' smeary trails that the YouTube videos on this thread highlight are much more noticeable and widespread. The Dell and Hazro IPS models offer superior pixel response performance to the DGM and vastly superior to the Iiyama - if you are comfortable with your DGM (and it sounds as if you are) then the Dells and Hazros will suit but the Iiyama or any of the modern VA panels from BenQ et al. will not.
