Right, I'm watching Dead Set on 4od and I'm noticing some very simple mistakes that people are making. Please contribute any new rules
Firstly, ALWAYS look behind you when you enter another room and secure weapons to fight any potential zombies.
Secondly, if someone has been bitten and are dying they are already dead and not worth saving. As hard as it maybe, you life depends on you acting decisively and making sure that the threat is elimated and the biohazard disposed of.
Thirdly, weapons and ammo are a valuable and limited resource. Don't use automatic fire and do secure all equipment of strategic value. This includes radios, police vehicles and hidden ammunition. Every shot counts so stay calm and make sure you aren't wasting precious bullets. Never leave weapons unattended.
Forthly, make sure a chain of command is established. Decisions need to be made quickly and effectively. Democracy is not the way to do this and people need to entrust this to a few people who can be trusted to save your lives. Decide ground rules and enforce them without exception.
Fifth, think long term and secure an immediate area, find food and water and make sure your immediate needs are sorted.
Sixth, vunerable people who are likely to freak out and potentially cause harm to the group should be supervised at all times. Make sure everyone has a role, whether it's cooking or making an inventory of supplies, make them feel like they are helping the cause.
Seventh, think about the situation. What information about the threat do you possess? Recon the area and find out as much about the virus/infection as possible. What intelligence do they possess and do they communicate? Is this a 28 days later scenario or will you need to mount a clear up.
Eighth, Chances are you aren't alone but be weary of any newcomers. What communications are avaliable? Are phones still active? Are there any announcements on SW/FM radio? Can you get any CB radios for any potential supply runs?
Ninth, Don't bank on being rescued, assume you are on your own and work towards a long term survival situation.
Tenth, don't allow any misbehaviour. If anyone starts to threaten the safety of the group they must be dealt with quickly.
