silly this one maybe,

in cpu-z- 1.41
one moment my cpu reads as 1600 x 6
another moment it says 2400 x 9

WHY....... ?

i thought it would be stress related not needing power etc ,, but even if i run a few progs like winrar adding up a 1gig file ,, a movie decode using divx its flashes between them..

even running orthos i get a few flashes back to 1600 mhz x 6 (orthos reports it as a 2400x9 est)

temps never appear to go over 51/52/50/51c load i use it in shuttle sd37p2 all normal fans at ultra low.

everest reports it as a 266x9 even with cpuz 141 next to it showing as a 1600x6

if anyone knows please enlighten me.. systems does speed along happy with it the photoshop test went from 28sec with e6300 c2d to 10 secs on this Q6600 so happy enough for now. (photoshop test in the photo forum,, how fast is your pc one)

Happens to me too on Vista, constantly going from 6/7 multiplier, ain't got speedstep on my motherboard and power saving options are off so the CPU should be a 100% all the time.

do you have C1E enabled? try disabling that if you do.

This Question/Answer really should be stickied.

why did my E6300 never change like that from 6x to 7x ? same bios settings just changed the C1E like suggested now.
