Just wondering what peoples opinions on these pre-builds, they seem great value for anyone who wants a budget gamer. Just wondering which to suggest to a mate ;)

I personally would go for the AMD, purely based on it having loads of good reviews...

DD Danneh, this is really relevant to me wondering which gaming pre build to go for. So the Oren with the card you specced, would it be a simple case of putting it in, booting it up, installing drivers and im good to go? If they are identical machines, then i can see why you would reccomend doing this instead and its something i think id want to do myself.

Sorry for threadjacking, kinda.

Checking the power consumption of a 4890, it seems like that 400W PSU might not be enough. I imagine it'd run fine at first, but PSU's degrade, and I don't think it'd be able to run it for long. However, it seems like a 4870 will work just fine, as it has roughly the same power consumption as a 4850. So you can pick up the XFX 4870 for £93, save £10 over the prebuilt one, and get better performance. You COULD try the 4890, but I wouldn't like to say.

But other than that, yes, you should just be able to put it in and install the drivers. With that system, you'll probably have to uninstall some nvidia drivers, as it has onboard nvidia graphics, and you might need to disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS (a simple case of changing it from On to Off).

By the way, make sure you get an operating system with a machine, as they don't come with one.
