Is this going to be released as an expansion then or will it be possible to buy it as a full game? I had this games years ago and quite fancy getting it again if I can play it online, but don't want to get the original now and expansion later only to find I could have just bought FC2 expansion + full game in one.

Any other good flight sim games you guys can recommend also other than FSX??? any where you can fly the AC-130???
 
Currently, due to UBI being ****s (what's new huh?), there can be no combined Lock On product. What you need is the original Lock On: Modern Air Combat. The Flaming Cliffs 2 addon will install over your original install of Lomac.

As for an AC-130 sim, I've never seen one. And for other sims, it depends on what you are looking for.

WWI - Rise of Flight
WWII - Wings of Prey, and eventually BOB:Storm of War
Vietnam - Strike Fighters 2
Modern - Lock On, and soon DCS:- A10C Warthog
Helicopter - DCS:- Ka-50 Black Shark

great game, something like that would be great - you could fly the B52, Tupolev TU-95, B2 etc etc

Looking for modern air combat, F16's, Apache, Hinds etc etc I think I will check out Strike Fighters 2 off your list, I was just looking at that on combatsim.com

Shame about Lock On, but no big deal is quite cheap now anyway so will get myself a copy ordered tomorrow if it runs on WIN7 64BIT - any recommendations on a decent joystick? would need to be good for FSX too as I'm going to pick that up also.

EDIT: Which is the better joystick? X52 PRO or the Cyborg Evo?
EDITx2: Ordered X52 Pro from OcUK, get in! hopefully its worth the investment! just need to find somewhere that sells LO Gold (play £78!!!!) ebay I suppose and pickup FSX Gold for some Flight Simulator goodness, anyone running REX on FSX?

It's just starforces online activation, totally different from their dreaded old software. Loads and loads of games use it.

Nice stick, you should be able to get some good profiles on the official Lock On/DCS forums

BTW you don't need Lock On Gold, the FC2 addon will upgrade the original Lock On just fine. You can get a boxed copy direct from the Developers for £12inc p&p here or jsut look on ebay (I have seen copies of Lomac for $3)

Excellent info - thank you mate for the links - purchase made & will definately take a look at those profiles; I've bought quite a bit of stuff today including some Corsair Dominator RAM from right here at OcUK; so I now have 8GB RAM - hoping I should be able to run it full whack off that rig now? (I also grabbed FSX with REX 2.0).

Going to pick up Traffic X, GEX & UTX tomorrow when FSX arrives so I should be all set for some serious flying!
 
Looks very good, I got my copy of LOMAC just waiting for FC2 now.

Been flying the JS41 (PMDG) on FSX, all good except on one session half way through the pre-flight I got a CTD. Happened once in flight too, massively annoying.

Don't suppose there are any fixes?

I'm running FSX Gold, "latest" patches and REX 2.0, GEX and UTX on WIN7 64BIT (most likely the problem but I am not downgrading).

Why did MS let the whole team go? really stupid.

So do I need the original flaming cliffs to install this or can I go straight to 2.0?

Found the answer to my own question.

You can install over a clean install of LockOn.

It doesn't even require LockOn to play it but because they don't own the rights to LOMAC it has to check its installed first.

DCS:- Black Shark is due a compatibility patch sometime next week, so the real fun begins then :)

One of the major features of FC2 was to get the missile and aircraft flight models more accurate. Modern Air tactics were always required to stay alive and they are even more necessary now. Your opponent will be more difficult to kill This Thread on the Lock on/DCS forum goes into the details of the changes made.

As for DCS, it is the same world, but a very very different simulator as you'll find out :) Should you need help just ask. I recommend the Producers notes for DCS and the Training Vids for lock on to get you up to speed.

If you are looking for a squad to join, head over to the official Lock On forums, there are plenty of squads there.

Thanks Nate - downloaded and installed, looks great, I love how responsive the F15 is with the X52 Pro, really really good.

as luck would have it I have to go out now unfortunately but looking forward to going through the tutorials and then attempting to blow stuff up!

Oh how I wish my PC doth not suck. :( My 8800GTS 320Mb couldn't cope with the original Lomac however, it had a bug rendering, meaning the FPS were fine, circa 100 FPS or so, but would produce a weird shimmering effect that made it unplayable, and I had to uninstall. I doubt I'll be able to run DCS though, so I don't think FC2 would be playable for me, which means it'll have to wait until I can afford to build a new PC.
