Yes, the OcUK 2v2 Tournament is ready to kick off :D

16 places available, 8 teams, competing in a single elimination quarter final up to a grand final :cool:.



The Tournament

The 2v2 teams and the quarter final will be drawn once places are filled. Teams will then play a BO3, starting on a randomly chosen map. The losing team then pick the next map.



Date/Time

The Tournament will be played on Saturday the 20th, kicking off around 1300 and lasting until the last game of the grand final is played ;)

Once the places are filled, the teams will be drawn. You will then have until Saturday to practice some 2v2 games with your partner.

Teams will be chosen randomly with a bias to even out overall skill level across the teams. So if you're a top diamond player you probably wont be paired with another top diamond ^^
 
would love to play but any reason why it couldn't be over a few nights or something rather than a single day and time? I appreciate that the singles tournament "wandered" on more that expected!

Well, after the 1v1, it seemed better to do shorter events, more often. So if someone is away for the day or few days that it happens, they wont have to wait forever until the next one comes around.

The 1v1 side of it will almost always be on a larger scale, owing to the fact that there are just more matches happening. There didnt seem to be enough matches happening in this specific 2v2 to justify spreading it over too long a time, but if people would rather push it to, say, sunday, then it can be flexible :). It's always going to be difficult to find a time to please everyone, saturday seemed like a reasonable default day to work with.

I'm thinking 1v1 can be over, say, a week at the most depending on how many people are playing and availability.


If people would like to play, but cant make the saturday please let me know here in the thread. I'd rather know people are interested but cant play. Otherwise i might think people arent interested and simply stick to 1v1s :p
 
not sure if i can make 20th unfortunatly, will have to get back to you :(

EDIT: Meant to be going out with the missus and her family on that Saturday, so looks like i canny do it cap'n

I agree, while it sucks to miss out, if we have moar tourneys it's all fair in the end.

im also in agreement, although miffed i can't make it, it is better for the tourney on a whole.

that way they can be more regular too :)

Its better for the community too, if you get together for a whole night theres more chance of you communicating more over the course of the evening, rather than just playing a quick game and then logging off.
