I recently bought a Crucial C300 64GB drive for use as a boot/OS drive. I plugged it into one of the SATA 6 ports using the correct cable. The drive is recognised in the BIOS, and I was able to format it and so on. I haven't installed anything to it yet, but I thought I'd like to see what 6Gbps feels like so I fired up AS SSD benchmark.

The write is fine (steady at 70MB/s), but as soon as I get to the sequential read test, the figures go all over the place - usually starting at around 300MB/s then dropping down continually until an error message shows that the drive is 'out of reach'.

I have run it on the normal SATA II ports - and it runs absolutely fine (I upgraded the firmware using these ports, then tested using AS SSD bench). I have updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version to no avail, and the drivers are the most up to date available.

I have tried Windows' own Marvell controller drivers, and the two latest versions from Asus' site with the same problem.

Don't tell me that a feature I paid extra for is totally useless and that I'll have to buy an expansion card?

(Oh, and I also tried Crystal Disk Mark with the same problem - writes fine, but reads fail.)

I used ms drivers in end same motherboard the official ones were rubbish strange your having problems.
