How to tell if my graphics card is broken?

The idle temp is way too high, should be around 40c from what I've read, but strangely the load temps aren't excessive. However those game Fps seem very low and the heaven score should be way higher than that, see the Heaven thread for 6970 scores.:confused:

I'll try the benchmark again because my idle temps have now gone down to 36.

EDIT: Just checked temps again and they are 50. Is this an OK idle temp?
 
Your idle temps are way to high and it sound to me the heatsink ain't fitted properly or the fan is bugged!, so i will RMA it.
BUT before you do!,
do you have another PCI-e slot on your mobo? if so try it in there.
let us know how you get on!.
 
do you use internet explorer ? ive read by another user on these forums that he was getting higher idle clock speeds (thus higher temps) coz he was using IE,normal idle clock speeds should be 250/150

what are you getting ?
