I have a pair of Corsair Vengeance with tall heatsink and it was a real pain finding a good CPU cooler without interfering with the tall memory modules. After a few days of sleepless nights trying to deliberate if I will change the RAM in favour of a big cooler so I can overclock, or just overclock a little and just keep the RAM....in the end, I decided to get a Noctua D14 with Corsair low profile modules.

But I found out that the tall Corsair Vengeance modules are actually compatible with the Noctua D14.

You might think I must be mad and there's no point using the tall RAMs as they are totally blocked by the front fan - It's becase I can overclock them a bit to 1866Mhz where as with the low profile ones, I don't know why I can't.

Proof:

Without the front fan, the memory modules can still be seen

With the front fan attached, it covered all ot the memory modules.

Forgot to mention, I had the option not to install the front fan so the memory modules can be seen... I did my own tests and there is only 1-2 deg Celcius difference without the front fan, but I just installed it anyway, but it has to be a little higher than normal.

Hey sorry to bring up old posts but saves me making a thread. k_poh does the high profile ram have any contact with the Noctua fins?

Just the one middle tooth just about touches one fin of the memory. You can just leave it, or bend the d14's tooth a little. Please note what motherboard I'm using as all mb's are different.
