Look at those prices! Plus, with inflation now, makes the 7970/7950 seem cheap compared to these...

I bet those sold more in the first week than either of the 7900 cards though that is the difference.

7950 is selling extremely poorly at its current price.

It's selling more than 570/580's though according to Gibbo. And have you got a link to the sales data you're looking at?

But a year ago the power of the cards was abit more groundbreaking?

The 7970 is more of a leap over the 580, than the 580 was over 480.

570/580 is end of life and not even made any more, the majority of the people wanting those cards already have them, the 7900 series are brand new cards. My data is based on real time stock systems of online retailers, one has the cheapest 7950 in the UK on it and they have sold a whopping 4 cards since release, that's with a hotukdeals thread on it also.

No offence to OcUK or yourself, but some people just need to learn to shop around. I got my second 3gb palit card for £380 before the 7970 was even released. Personally I couldn't care if the cards where all £600 each, as you either buy what you want or you don't at the end of the day anyway.

To those complaining about those complaining, shut your pie hole already. It would be a pretty boring forum if people didn't have heated discussions about graphics card prices.

The only persons entitled to complain about the prices are the ones who have paid the prices. That's if they're not happy of course.

The others?

Want one yet can't afford it (awww, diddums !)
Just hate AMD so will find any old reason to rubbish them
Bought an Nvidia card recently and now feel they need to bolster their ego
Have no intention of buying any of the new Radeons because they like Nvidia too much.

So IMO there's not much left to discuss once you have a good understanding of the reasons above.

Excuse my language, but how the **** do you know?

Do you own a business or online business?

Because from where I am standing on this forum alone I have seen lots of people buying them.

If you can't back up your statements don't make them. Show me evidence, show me AMD share prices.

The 480 was released around March 2010 and the 580 around November 2010, so it isn't a fair comparison. A fair comparison would be the 580 to the 5870, that's what the 7970 should be to the 580, but it isn't so it sucks.

Wrong.

I can afford one.

I love AMD.

Haven't bought an Nvidia card in the last 5 years.

Want to buy a new Radeon.

The reason I am annoyed is because I love AMD and want to see them succeed and the way they are going about things right now is only going to give another round to Nvidia.

To OP -

Hilarious thing is the 3gb Phantom was still that price the day I ordered my 7970.

You're wasting your time though man. This isn't about prices at all, the prices are just an excuse to pull out the Nvidia bat and bash on AMD.

Nvidia can't win a round if they ain't in the fight.

Fact.

Fail.

The 580 sold in quantity. Thats the difference.

I want proof.

Show me sales figures for the 5 series. I also want to see these supposed failed sales figures for AMD.

Or did you just make that up too?

So come on then, proof. Because I could easily counter your argument with the fact that like the 7970 the 7950 on launch on Newegg (an etailer that makes OCUK look like a table at the end of some one's driveway) were all sold out.

Oh Easy, do try and expand your mind a little beyond your blinkers, AMD doesn't concentrate solely on the UK as a market for their cards :p

7970/7950 are pretty much sold out in the US, suppliers can't keep up with demand.

If Easyrider hasn't bought one, then nobody has.
These cards haven't sold a single model, anywhere in the world.

AMD will be out of business in 24 hours if they don't drop the price by £300.

May I request this thread be closed too?

Only because any one with half a brain can see things for what they are and really don't need facts and figures.

Quite simply what I mean is any one on this forum with an ounce of intelligence can use Google.

I just see this thread as being a counter argument to a stupid, baseless watered down hate campaign. So it's best not to fall into the trap?
