Zigfrak (awful name) is a "game of deep space conflict and discovery". Essentially it's an RPG in space, but you control the ship in third-person rather than a character. There's a demo on the main page or via Desura; I've had a quick go and it's quite impressive although the controls take some getting used to. Combat plays as you'd expect - very space shootery - but there are definite RPG elements to it such as looting, accepting missions etc. I will play some more later and update with impressions, but anyone even remotely interested in space sims needs to try this.

Price is currently £4.49 for beta access!

I just wanted to bump this thread. I've been having great fun with the game and wanted to point you guys into its direction again.
It takes the X-Universe idea and does away with all the tediousness. It's been criticised for its simplified space battle mechanics, but, to be honest, that's one of the things I love about it.
Imagine an arcade verion of X3 without trading but looting instead and a great load of missions and equipment to scavenge.
