Ive been looking to get another second monitor after my old one broke about a year ago, as a graphic designer i need something good quality and own a 2408 Dell Ultra sharp 24" monitor ...am seriously considering buying one of these

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-001-DG

what i want to know is

1) i know they are a cheap brand, poor stand etc but will it be upto the quality of my 24 ultrasharp ?

2) what are B grade technically, without box, confirmed dead pixels, marked ?

3) Am i still covered under my 16 day return if im not happy with the monitor ?

My worry is i get one to find its a worse picture than my 24 ultrasharp..i know it will be better than a TN Panel but what kind of quality are they ?

my friend made a good point that these B-Grade ones are probably because the monitors are that bad brand new that a lot of people are sending back, do you think this is the case ?

would love ppl's opinions who have this monitor in particular or good monitors in general !

1) I do not have one, but there is thread on here where some people have had the power supply blow up. I'm unsure of picture quality.

2) B Grade just means that it has been returned, it could be missing some accessories or could have all of them.

3) I assume it would but to make sure just send a webnote.

yeah have sent a webnote thanks mate, keen to know what people who have owned one say about image quality there seems to be such contrasting opinions about this monitor, i can live with a cheap stand and even a burnt pixel but i never like stepping back form my current setup :( if its worse than my 5 year old 24" ultrasharp i know i will just wanna box it up and send it back.

I've checked local stores for these monitors but cant find anyone who stocks them locally !

I'm currently on my second DGM IPS-2701 monitor. The first one died after 3 or 4 months. OcUK replaced it with a brand new one. Before that, I had a Hazro IPS monitor which lasted 3 weeks. So essentially, I'm on my 3rd monitor in 12 months.

The picture on this DGM is superb. It impresses me every time I switch it on. No dead pixels and no noticeable backlight bleed. Obviously there is the usual "IPS-Glow" to contend with but you can't really escape that unless you buy an expensive professional monitor with a polarizing filter.

I would be very wary of buying a B grade monitor regardless of the manufacturer but the thought of buying a B grade "budget" brand would concern me greatly. I guess it depends to a large extent on the reasons for it being classified as a B grade. Hopefully you will find out what's wrong with it when you get a response to your webnote.

As much as I love my DGM, if I could go back 12 months I would have bought a Dell or possibly a Samsung. They don't seem to suffer from the reliability issues of the budget brands. Even with the excellent service from OcUK, it's still a pain in the **se when you have to return a monitor and wait for a replacement.

I set up the thread warning people not to buy these monitors because of their poor build quality. Not in terms of the monitor, but the power supply.

In terms of image quality, they are great. Really crisp and clear. Both the monitors I had, had no dead pixels, and were great, so you don't have to worry about that.

My major concern, and why I will NEVER consider buying another cheap monitor is because of the power supply. I had 2 go within 2 or 3 weeks. Each monitor worked for around a week before dying. Completely your choice if you are willing to risk it, I'm sure if you get lucky you will LOVE the image quality, but that is your call.

Also note, it's not only me that has had issues with the power supplies, a friend of mine in real life had the same problem, and I think there were 3 or 4 replies in that thread saying the same.

dont risk it
i got one in the sale and from day one its had a busted power brick
2 phones and countless webnotes and guess what
still no power brick
apparently the guy who promised they would send one out monday was lying
half tempted to just return the whole order

just had a snooty enote stating in previous enotes they did explain i need to return it first before sending me one
I got my RMA number TODAY after over 1 week of asking for one
i will never buy from ocuk again which is sad as i will have to go back to ****** as at least when ive had to rma orders they sort it out in a timely manner 1 week 2 days to get a rma number for a power supply which mite blow again
no way would i suggest buying one of these B grade i will likely be using this 3 year warranty countless times
hopefully i can con somebody into taking it off my hands

If RMA rates hit high enough, i am sure ocuk would have stopped selling them.

I wouldnt worry about it.

Yes yours broke, yes your friends broke, yes other peoples ones broke, but factor in the thousands of units that have been sold - its insignificant

dont mind it being broke just taking 2 weeks to rectify 90days warranty is too risky as if the psu blows how else are you to acquire one uses a non standard connection

thanks guys, OC got back on the webnote and simply said they were used condition...i think your right, its not worth the risk i will get myself another dell... am thinking the new ultrasharp 29 " or i might just wait to see what comes out in the next few months.

im hoping they make a good ips, 120hz 3d monitor or maybe an LCD borderless ones :)
