This looks interesting - a new turn-based squad game based on Jagged Alliance 2.

This is not by BitComposer, who made the recent average 'Back in Action' - this is a whole new development, by an indie studio who have acquired the rights from BitComposer.

There's a kickstarter campaign which is worth a look, I've backed it.

The studio is also about to launch a decent-looking remake of Space Hulk which will give us an idea of what they're capable of.

Oh niiice!

JA2 is one of the games I've played the most, ever.

Especially with the 1.13 mod.

I've been very disappointed by the 'remakes' released since.

JA online is free to play for multiplayer.

They offer a campaign at £23. I'll wait for the reviews, as i'm primarily interested in single player.

That's that then.....

"Team Disbanded / Slow Communication

Big part of the slow communication and lack of progress is, that the JAF team is no more. Everyone is gone and there is me left to handle it all. Both taking over tasks from the guys who left as well as running the rest of the company.

And people have not just been moved over to other projects as some people say. They are gone gone, not to return. Very sad, but that's just the financial reality of JAF.

I try to answer all emails sent directly to me, but I simply cannot find time in the day to read+answer posts on the forums. Sorry - but that's just how it is.

Future Development on JAF

Without a team, there is also no further development on the game.

We would have liked nothing more than to continue on for ages, but no salaries lead to no people lead to no development.

We will work on a quick bug fix release in the upcoming weeks in between other work, and then that is the final version from our hands no matter what.

That bugfix will take care of (right now at least) 2 known issues that we want to fix
•female mercs in prone after loading
•a crash bug in the pathfinder

In my spare time sometime in the future I will send over as much of the requested modding stuff to Shanga. But my priority lies with physical goods first.

From the start of this project we wanted to get the modding part of the community running with as many possibilities as possible. And that is still everyone's goal to see the awesome stuff that can be done in the future by the talent out there.

Best

Loved Jagged Alliance 2 so I'm sad to see this project die, but I'm glad I didn't back it now. I'm pretty much done with the whole early access/kickstarter thing now. 95% of it seems to be a cash grab, so it's an absolute minefield. It needs some sort of regulation really.

I agree on the Kick starter/early access stuff now. I've been burnt too much.

Also doesn't help when you see the game you bought on sale at 50% of the price 3 weeks after launch.

I purchased JA:Flashback a few weeks ago and after a handful of restarts gave up on it. I literally just started again 2 days ago and finally made some progress.

I appreciate that it was an "indie" team. But they made a game that was in every way shape and form worse than JA:BAI (which I have played though multiple times and enjoyed).

I think a project post mortem for this would be an interesting read.
It went thoughts starter, was on Steam as Early access and then got a full release. That's 3 chunks of cash investment. It would be nice to see what they spent it all on.

I am starting to look at early access games a bit different now. :( Shame.

Elite and Star Citizen are in a different class tho. ;)
