Hi,

So I am off to go travelling for 6 months and would like to take a laptop with myself to edit photos in Lightroom 4 and maybe Skype my parents now and again.

So please spec me a Laptop or maybe some specs for a laptop. I will take an External Harddrive so not bothered about HDD Space, would only want a couple of programs installed on the HDD.

Not sure what a good screen size and please don’t link me to Macs as I think they are overpriced and I don’t want to give any more money to Apple.

My needs are probably similar to yours in the sense that I am going to SE Asia for a few months, including some pretty adventurous trips and need something that can take a beating.

After much research... I am torn between a cheap ases eee pc. Or spend a bit of money and get something which I will care for, which is between a Mac Book Air 13" retina display (epic IPS panel) or the Asus Zenbook UX32A...

I am probably going to get the Zenbook if I'm honest, having the power will be nice and also I really want a decent display panel...
 
I have decided on the eee pc as well I think, will stick an SSD in with a 4GB stick and run Ubuntu/XP dual boot. Should fly along!
 
Did you decide on anything? I still can't find a decent spec eee PC haha. And every time I venture away from it, my price increases :(
