Installed the H80 a few days ago and so far so good, very pleased with it.

My only gripe is the jump in noise between stage 1 and stage 2. Stage 1 is nice and quiet but stage 2 is too loud. I could do with a stage 1.3!

So my questions are:

1. How can I go about adjust the fan speeds? As far as I can work out I could either get the Corsair Link commander (I assume you could adjust fan speeds far more accurately?) or get a fan controller and wire the push/pull fans to that?

2. Does anyone have a link commander? Are they worth it? Can I plug my case fans into it as well?

3. Fan noise - I guess I could change the fans? I have corsair fans all round, 2 x 120mm on the rad, 1 x 140mm on the front of the case and a 1 x 120mm below it. I'm a bit of a noob so I don't know how noisey these fans are compared with others? Can A LOT of noise be saved by switching fans? Or is it not that big a difference?

New fans would have to be a damn site quieter to let me run the H80 at stage 2 without waking the house up

Not sure where to go, help!

Just turned the fans and pump to full speed . . FPU test was 10° cooler!!

So yeh, new fans needed i think! Some great suggestions there mate, having the rad take air in and exhaust out the top is a great idea.

Oops replied in the wrong thread! Oh well still makes sense. That was the controller I was looking at actually. Are those Corsair fans a lot quieter than the standard fans do you think?

someone may jump in and say why have rad as intake on rear i have my rad on exhaust and there fine. so i will explain in bit more detail.
rads are fine on exhaust i will agree with them to a point. its ok to have rad as exhaust if ur on custom loop with 360 420 rad as the can move a lot of heat and u probs wont notice extra heat from case and gpu as a exhaust, but on a small 120 rad like yours and being closed loop they cant remove heat as good, so in my opinion a small 120 is better as intake cool air will help u dont want gpu and case heat going into that little rad as exhaust

hope thats clear made sense in my head lol i always found that best for me when i had closed loop :D

regarding the fans, i wouldnt bother swapping the standard h80 fans for the sp120. more or less the same only the rpm is less making them quieter.. that said they dont move as much air on full power.

sorry orch i was told there great fans and see a vid on net of guy doing a fan review they got rated highly sorry for that dude i just run gentle typhoons cant go wrong :D:D

No worries man, I'm reading reviews and the GTs do seem pretty good

there great and dont believe the people who say there noisy cause there really not i have my entire case with them and there all 1850 rpm and i use fan controller to lower them and my case aint to loud

even at full rpm there not to bad i game with surround sound and it doesn't affect me cant hear them over my sound

Ah ok. I'm still thinking about that. If the fans are nice and quiet I would probably just run them from the corsair pump, but I might get a fan controller and run them from there instead. Would be nice to adjust them.

Actually yeh a fan controller I think.
