Nice!

I pity the guy that has to treat the wood cladding lol! But seriously - that's got some nice character points. Almost the style that you can add external shutters to and it doesn't look out of place in a new(ish) build.

I take it the cladding was part of the original build?

Can you take a picture of the second floor, that landing looks rather large, trying to look at it in perspective of the first floor, does it fit flush with the wall on the far side of bedroom 2?

Also you only mention you and your wife, that's a rather large house (4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms) for just the 2 of you?

Looks very nice though :).

Its cedar wood so wont actually need treating, it just develops that silver grey tone over time, its a newish build (10 years old now) and each of that type of house on the development are finished with that cladding

the pics are only from the estate agent so dont have one of the landings yet, but yes its a large landing. Current owners have a bookcase of the wall leading to bedroom 2 - and no it doesnt fit flush, bed 2 opens out when you walk into it, not by much though...probably 2 feet (from memory)

yes, just the two of us :) Our requirements were:

1) nice room for us
1a) man cave
2) craft room for the mrs
3) Spare bedroom
4) detached.

We looked at a load of places, roughly 40 during our search, and for the money this one was the best. Its probably a bit on the big side for two of us but when you look at similar budget places in other areas the choice was simple.

We dont have kids, and not having any either, so all we're doing is putting some of our disposable income into the house.

I only see three bathrooms?

2 on-suite, 1 family, 1 wc on ground floor.

That's really nice and I like the silver wood but not sure it goes as well with the tiles on bedroom three as it does with the yellow brickwork.

Your requirements state detached so what it bedroom three attached to, garage?

Jesus 500k, nice size though and the views you get look good too!

yeah, 500k...with the equity in ours and the stupid price it went for it ended up being a 20k more mortgage than we currently have.

Yeah i agree, the wood looks nicer without the tiles but oh well :)
Bed 3 is attached to another property, i think they called in a link detached, it was something to compromise on

That looks really good. :) I presume that is a shared parking area at the front?

no, that's a shared access area :)

Each of the properties has a designated parking spot in the parking area - our house has a spot under bed 3 instead

The house opposite ours is the same design but instead of a parking spot under bed 3 there is a drive way down to the parking area.

The close has 7 houses in it so plenty of room.

Very nice and a little unusual compared to many more modern builds. I like the layout very much. Your second floor landing area from the floor plan looks ripe for use as a dressing area since no guests have a reason to go up there. Don't underestimate what a nice feeling it is not having your bedrooms cluttered with wardrobes if you can put them somewhere else.

yep, that top floor area is a dressing area, the Mrs is looking out for a nice dressing table for herself and we'll get a wardrobe up there as well, the top room also has a built in wardrobe so should have plenty of clutter free space.

We're keen to make that top floor a nice relaxing space for us.

I'd be very tempted to knock the top floor through and just have one large bedroom with the stairs emerging into it. Thats what we did on our top floor and as a result have a very luxurious feeling 5m*7m bedroom with en suite similar to how yours would be.

Lovely house. There's plenty over here in Norway that look exactly like your upper two floors (without the brick ground floor), but I never saw anything like that in the UK before. Very interesting.

And damn that's my kind of man cave - pink walls, fairy princess 4-poster bed, big dolls house... awesome! ;) :) :)
