Iphone 6/Beats

When listening to the speakers on my M7 I have to have Beats audio setting switched on because if you turn it off the equaliser does not go flat, it makes it artificially worse so that beats setting sounds better in comparison.

This is just my opinion but I think HTC would have had Beats on the M8 but couldn't probably because of the Apple deal. Apple and beats is a perfect match, they both produce overpriced but nice looking and well advertised equipment to the masses.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 6s comes out with some sort of beats junk on it and call it a revolutionary idea even though HTC did it ages ago.

Was there any actual technology? I was under the impression it was just an equaliser setting on the HTC's, a bad one at that?

Essentially the HTC with Beats thing was pure marketing, Apple don't exactly need help polishing a turd :p

There actually was a bit of hardware involved, but it was more good design, such as keeping audio bits isolated to prevent noise.

Its a great marketing tool, this is true because look at all the people walking around who have spent £300 on a £50 quid set of headphones.
Apple and Beats are a match made in heaven!

I have an M8 with the beats thing, never used any heaphones with it so cant comment on that side of things.

Does it sound better than your average smart phone through the phones speakers? yes, but maybe because theres two of them.

Does it sound good in general? no, no smartphone has good sound through it's speakers, not even close.

I want to kill people who play music out loud on smart phones.

Some of the actual Beats headphones have improved a lot recently; even Head-Fi members have reluctantly conceded the Solo 2's are excellent, albeit for consumer gear.

There's a great big thread about it which caused many to throw a tizzy fit since a company isn't allowed to ever improve the quality of it's products.

lol @ people who use the word "sheeple". Dear God.

It's almost as daft as trying to pigeonhole and insult people over their choice of phone. :p

Assuming what he said isn't a joke (hopefully it is).

The person who brought up Beats Music made a good point, this'll no doubt end up merged with iTunes Match, or something.

This thread has to be the daftest thread in MP&T in a long time. The OP starts with a tirade of abuse toward people who want to buy the new iPhone. He then goes on to say...

I believe Android/Google own the smartphone industry.

...which is daft considering no one "owns" the smartphone industry (all manufacturers, and OS's bring lots to the smart phone industry).

The OP is sitting on a high horse becoming moist and having orgasms over the fact that he has a Samsung S4 ([Devil's Advocate]lol @ the plastic Fisher Price build quality and awful Touchwiz for a £600 phone[/Devil's Advocate]) and will never "touch an iPhone".

How on earth has the underboss and Don who have both posted on page 1 let this thread slide? What meaningful discussion does it bring?

If the OP really was interested in the iPhone 6 and lack of Beats he would have posted a sincere thread in the Apple hardware forum.

Everyone is forgetting the Beats Music online music streaming service...
Indeed, it's a pretty good eco-system (if fairly US based) and their partnerships with musicians is something you really can't buy. I assume it didn't take hold as much in the EU due to competition from spotify / not so prevalent brand but it could go further with the right push.

Even if you don't think much of the product (although as previously said, many reviews have said the new headphones are much improved) I can respect the brand for what it's done. As for embedding it in phones, I think it's more brand then actual product (it is a sound after all, even if you wanted it can't be much more than a dac/amp and a separate one would push up costs for pretty much zero return) so I'm sorta expecting apple to do a package with devices / services / headsets and headphones to start with.

The tech in the new iPhones isn't old. 20-band LTE is a massive achievement and its 64-bit CPU is still ahead of the pack.
64bit is good future proofing but as with the x86 industry conversion to x64, right now it's not realllllly needed. Putting it off for a while costs rivals very little, instruction sets are not something phones are missing out on. 20 band LTE from qualcomm is good cost reduction though. Apple have been fairly behind (wifi ac this year for example) on radios, this is much more like it.

would not bother touching an iphone, as I believe Android/Google own the smartphone industry.

why ?

one thing apple has going for them at the moment other than build quality/warranty (which HTC seem to be nearly matching) is that the apps/games/cameras are still in a league ahead of the android offerings

3 times ive gone back to android and 3 times ive wondered how people still put up with sub par apps compared to the IOS ones

i suppose android still has the lead in modding but it gets boring real quick and you end up just wanting something that works well
