Hi.
The title says it.
Here at OCUK they have TeamGroup Xtreem LV 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit for just 110£, discounted from 156£ !

I'm trying to find out if its worth to buy them.
What I'm looking for is a double-ranked(sided?) 16GB(2x8) DDR3 with reasonable speed/timings and price.
(Preferably red or black or red/black)

Anyone any ideas? :)

What I see as possible options are:
G.Skill TridentX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-2400C10D-16GTX)
G.Skill TridentX Fan 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-2666C11D-16GTXD)
Avexir Blitz 1.1 Original 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U24001008G-2BZ1)
or the ones we are talking about
TeamGroup Xtreem LV 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXD316G2666HC11CDC01)

I have the avexir kit in my system. tho it was £110/16GB from OcUK as well (discounted)

I am able to achieve similar timings on my ram. but my sweet spot is at 2400MHz which gives me the maximum bandwidth for write and read and latency.

the Avexir and 2400 rated G.Skill got low latencies. thats something to bear in mind.

actually the trident and blitz MIGHT be the same ram.

I'm also trying to decide if these are worth buying. I currently have 8gb of Corsair Vengeance ram running at 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 and I'm debating whether to either sell what I currently have and replace with the Team kit or just buy another 8gb Corsair Vengeance kit....

Those team group 2666 are hynixmfr, generally poor performance despite them looking good on a spec sheet. A good 2133mhz c9 kit would be faster

@op. Go for the trident x 2400c10 kit, should be Samsung ic and will smash that tg kit out of the park.

Slightly off topic, but how can you tell the make of ram chips used in a particular kit? Got a c10 team group kit that I've clocked a bit before. Managed 2600 from it. I remember the team ddr2 etreme kits used the much sought after micron d9 chips. Curious as to what my current pair are.

Should be Samsung or hynix, given how long you've had the kit I'd say Samsung :)

Usually tell by there rated speed and timings, well this works 95% of the time

1600mhz 6-8-6-20 PSC
2400mhz 10-12-12-32 samsung
2133mhz 9-11-10-28 hynix

^to name a few

Thanks, don't see the c10 Vulcan kits anywhere now. Whereas the poor clocking c11 ones are still easily available.

@nick, mine are rated 10-11-11-31, 2T 1.65v off the top of my head.

The c11 ones will be hynix, which depends on batch to how good they are, usually average to poor but my hyperx beasts 2400c11 are hynix and will bench 2400c9 or c8 with big volts.

Generally what is/was perceived as poor clocking kits changed with haswell as it scaled kits up from a max of around 1.7v up towards 2v. They can take a fair amount of torture :p

Think I had 1.75 through mine at 2600, cant recall the timings exactly, but had command rate at 1T.

what about 2600mhz 11-13-13-35 ?
Like those tridentX. I bet it's hynix.

Anyway, whats is better in terms of gaming performance ?

G.Skill TridentX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-2400C10D-16GTX)
G.Skill TridentX Fan 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-2666C11D-16GTXD)

For games you wont notice any difference at all tbh. I ran the kit in sig at default of 1333mhz, didn't notice any change in games when putting it on its 2400mhz XMP profile.
