Anyone know about the following boards and if they clock at all with e6300, e6400 etc etc ? Also does GSKill 6400 NR ddr2 800 memory run on boards that dont support it but run at lower speeds?

Asrock ConroeXFire-eSATA2 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-003-AK)

Asrock Conroe945G-DVI (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-004-AK)

The reason i'm asking is my e6600 just arrived this morning and as my local shop stocks these 2 boards i thought i could use one for my e6300.

Cheers,
Kabaala.

Hmm just phoned them and they are out of the XFire board, so its thoughts on the cheaper one i'm after now lol. I realise they will overclock but it would be a wasted of money if it will only clock slightly and if it wont take the memory i have to use with it.

Hmm really not much of an OC and i prefer to do it from the bios than use software. Might do as a cheap mobo for this till there's a wider range of more mature ones. Reluctant to spend a lot on this one as its really just somewhere for the E6300 to be used now the E6600 is here, but better than floggin it on the bay where it's likely to get pennies.

Damn my missus gets some good system through my cast offs, wonder why she moans :p

Just seen some overclocking tools for the sli board

I have one I bought from the MM forums whilst waiting for my ds3. Tbh it would only clock to 300fsb, maybe these tools might help alittle more. I'm to lazy to refit it.

Dude you rock, hopefully this'll overcome the 150, 224 and 298 walls of the BIOS, will try this!

i've just tried the setfsb on my conroe945G-DVi(was stuck at 150 before)

and i can say that it does work, went to 152 no trouble so set it up to 166 and it's working fine(3.3ghz now) ran super PI to text and its 5secs faster now :D, only on stock cooling so i'm going back to 3ghz till i can get a better cooler.

thanks Servo

will post up some pics when i get back.

well the best i can do stable(well after 1 try of spuer pi) is 3400mhz,

anything else is just to high(don't know if it's the ram or cooling)

post back a bit later with pics and stuff

Does the board give you enough headroom to increase the voltage enough to perhaps raise even further?

:o
erm good point, i've not even looked for that, will try when i'm back in. thanks for that

thats the best i've been able to get out of mine(not going to do the volt mod)

thanks to Servo for posting the info

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't 38 seconds a bit slow for that cpu especially at that speed?

Pretty sure my opty(single core) used to do it in just over 30 seconds.

Edit - or am i totally overestimating older pentiums

no i'm quite sure that its a bad score, got 1 gig of ram and a 80gb sata HDD with that.

i dunno but yeah i'm sure it should be better than that
