xbox 360 on 19"

I run my 360 on my 913n using the VGA cable, quality is great imo.
I was horrified when i first ran Tomb Raider Legends and got black bars top and bottom, even more horrified when i first loaded TW07 !!

I have since managed get rid of these black bars.

On Xbox dashboard go to System-Console Settings-Display and set Screen Format to Widescreen, hey presto no more black bars !! (I have my screen resolution set to 1280*1024 for what it's worth).

:)

looks stretched to me  surely you can't have the screenput set as widescreen on a non widescreen screen and have no stretching?

The only way it wont be stretched if it crops the sides of the picture off which isn't ideal. The picture above is clearly strectched.

Eww, that bottom stretched pick looks horrid. The 360 is designed with widescreen gaming in mind, and I'd rather have borders and a full view of all going on than play streched like that.

can someone tell me why my 360 does not come on automatically to the correct channel ie i turn it on and have to change the channel with the remote.

i have it plugged into the scart at the back of the tv with the that standard scart adapter you get bundled

I just realised, after having it for a year, that my Samsung LCD allows me to switch between the VGA and DVI inputs. I just have to press the menu exit button when the menu isn't up. Doh :o

Quite tempted by a 360 VGA cable now :D

I don't think normal composite via a SCART block will do auto-switching. I'd have thought the advanced RGB SCART cable for the 360 would do it though.

bah, more money :( i find changing the channel too much :p

Just lazy  :p
Though you should get a lot better picture from the advanced scart to the composite you'll be using now, which is a bonus.

anyone got a picture of saints row on their 19inch tft? I downloaded the demo but it stretches it, but on GOW and Kameo i have the bars. (without the bars the game looks really bad) so i was just wondering if the retail version of saints row keeps itself within bars :P

I run mine through a non-w/s monitor at 1280x768, without the black bars, I've onyl ever played this way so the stretching has never bothered me.

If I were to set the resolution to 1280x1024, would it still be high res, or does it have to be 720p?

hey is anyone running a 360 off a 19" monitor not widescreen ?
How good is the quality i will use the VGA cable?
Also what is the diffrence between the HD VGA cable and the normal VGA cable and does it matter when its run off a 19" pc monitor?

samsung 913N 19"

Cheers guys :D

got mine on a 19" widescreen here and it looks amazing tbh.

Yes i think as HD is only a RES "i think" sure someone else will be able to confirm:D

Also guys are you able to plug some standerd pc speakers into a xbox 360 when not useing the headset?

Yep monitors are HD, HD just refers to a certain resolution, i can't remember exactly what resolutions 720p, 1080p... refer to, im sure someone will add it soon. HD gaming has been around for many many years, its just new to consoles. I run my 360 through my 19" CRT, other than size i can't see any image difference between that and my mates 32" HDTV.

So is TFT monitors basically HD?
Considering getting the 360 but cant afford a HDTV atm so will have to use my 17"
PC monitors, CRT and TFT, have been capable of high resolutions using progressive scan for a long time now, just HD is now the standardised resolutions used through the industry, so 720p = 1280x720, and 1080p = 1920x1080.
