Power a fan from HDD power cable?

Is it possible to power a normal case fan by attaching wires to a normal HDD power cable?
I've got a PVR machine (HDD TV recorder), and want to attach a fan by by powering it from the HDD power.
It's got a standard PC HDD in it, with the normal connecters, ie the 1 red, 2 black and 1 yellow wires.

If your talking about wiring it in to a 4pin Molex connector, then yeah, no problem. You often get adaptors with case fans bought that supply a standard pin motherboard header to 4 pin molex adaptor.

Do you know what wires I need to connect?
Is it just one of the black ones and the yellow?

Pretty much.

The wires you connect will dictate how much voltage the fan receives.

Just be careful you don't fry your Fan, HD or the motherboard of your PVR!
