Pakistan in South Africa 2007

January

11-15 1st Test, Centurion

19-23 2nd Test, Port Elizabeth

26-30 3rd Test, Cape Town

February

2 1st ODI, Johannesburg

4 2nd ODI, Centurion

9 3rd ODI, Port Elizabeth

11 4th ODI, Cape Town

14 5th ODI, Durban

The first test started today, no Yousuf for us and he may also miss the second test but not a bad start. Currently on 183-2 with both Younis Khan and Yasir Hameed past 50. :)

Some absolute SHOCKING umpiring decisions today. Don't know if anyone caught any of this game but if you did you will know what I mean. No Darrell Hair this time though luckily ;) but umpire Doctrove make sum right shockers. I thought it would affect Pakistan when we went into bat, but luckily they held it together abit.

Pakistan 103/2 so one run behind SA now. Hopefully another 250+ tomorrow at least and put SA in on the last day!

The ODI between Aus and NZ is currently underway and after an explosive start by Aus they have been forced to slow down with some very tight bowling by NZ. They have just passed 200 with 5 wickets gone and its just past 41 overs. So the Aussies are human after all, NZ are putting up a decent fight here so far. I hope the England team are watching and taking notes!

edit: Its all happening in this game, Symonds and White have just gone for it and taken Aus up to 289! Bond got smashed 22 off one over then takes a hat-trick in his next over! NZ need 290 to win!

Didnt too bad the Pak's, some great batting by the tailenders though...i still think SA will win it or it will end up being a draw but i am hoping for a Pak win tbh. Some woeful batting by the Pak top order in the first and 2nd innings as well...Farhat did well to get 68 though.
Asif got a lovely 5 wicket haul in the first innings, lets hope he gets another 5 wicket haul in the second innings

As for Yousef??, i heard hes back for the 2nd test so thats good news..

Great result for south africa - especially now that Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib and Gul look like they will play the second test.

Yep, comfortable win in the end for SA.

Hopefully the next game will be a lot closer!

Hmmm looks Gibbs has been banned for 2 tests for some pretty racist comments towards the pakistani players. Seems like his arguement is that the Pakistani fans were abusing the SA players as well...well sorry that has sweet FA to do with the pakistan team....plus that fan or fans were booted out by security....bloody idiot...should be banned for a lot longer and lets not forget that SA had Ahktar banned for a few matches when they toured pakistan..think it was Smith who had him banned.

Never liked the SA, always thought they were a racist bunch of pigs and this incident shows this in their true light. Its a shame that india couldnt whip their sorry asses and im hoping pakistan will win the test series and odi series but i doubt it...

On another note looks like Yousef and Gul will be available to play in the 2nd test \o/ so thats good news..

Gibbs comments were aimed at some Pak. supporters, not players, who racially abused him & Harris.
Let's hope they identify & punish those supporters too, racist scum.
And the one who hit Ntini with a flag too.

Read the link;), it was directed at the pakistani players as well and the racist scum you talk about were ejected from the stadium. Which imho was the right thing to do, cant stand fans who think its perfectly ok to racially abuse players...

Gibbs called a group of fans that were abusing a player "a bunch of bloody animals".

It was a stupid and inflamatory thing to say and he deserved the ban, but it should end there.

As for spawn's utterly racist comments here that south africa "were a racist bunch of pigs" I take deep offence. Remember Gibbs has faced some the worst racism in modern times growing up as a coloured man is white minority ruled country.

I was going to mention that and I don't think Spawn knows Gibbs is coloured.

Don't know if anyone caught this today but Inzamam played one of the best innings I've ever seen for his 92 not out. I'm so gutted he didn't get his century, it would have been one of his best ever. He was in bat with Asif (no 11) who can't bat to save his life, and at that point Pakistan only had a 65-70 lead. He held it together by not letting Asif face, ignoring the singles and just going for boundaries or 2s, then a quick single on the last ball, basically doing what he could to expose Asif as little as possible. He took the lead from 65-70 to 140...!!!!! Absolutely superb batting by him, if anyone missed the highlights I highly recommend watching it!

SA finished on 115/3 still 26 runs behind but at this stage it can still go either way. 3 whole days of play left yet. Bad news for Pakistan is that Akhtar is out with injury.

Even as a South African it is a blow as I love watching him steam in trying to decapitate his next victim. Not really that suprising that he has injured himself - long lay off then trying to bowl full pace was a bit risky imo.

Would love him to be fit for the world cup as i think a fully firing Pakistan is the only team that can beat Australia.

Pakistan 56-3 needed 135 more to win - should be a cracker

Yeah, THROWING a ball like that so much would injure you eventually.

Oh please STFU, he doesnt throw the ball...hes been exonerated a few times by the ICC who have looked into his bowling action. Anyways this isnt the thread to talk about his bowling action suspect or not.

Anyways the test seems to be nicely poised, Pak need another 50 odd runs. They lost Inzi and Yousef just after lunch but Younis Khan and Akmal are doing a sterling job of getting the total they need to clinch this match. Im hoping that they get there without losing anymore wickets..although im sure the tailenders can make up a good 20 or so runs hopefully should they lose Khan and Akmal...

Learn some manners, learn to respect other peoples opinions and then i'll read passed the third word of your paragraph and take your opinion into consideration.

Apologies if i came across as being abrupt but im kinda getting sick and tired of the usual Akhtar chucks/throws the ball when its been investigated by the ICC and their independant panel that he does not throw the ball. I guess the same could be said for Murali of Sri Lanka but hes been cleared as well.

So lets just leave it at that, stop making the baseless accusations without any hard proof eh?;). If it proven that he does throw the ball then ill be the first to admit that hes wrong.

Back on topic please, and its a shame that hes injured. Devastating bowler who made an awesome comeback but problem with Akhtar is that hes injury prone at the best of times and i think its best that Pak try and save him for the World Cup because without him, i think they will struggle. He is definitely their talisman.

Akmal and Younis hold it together to carry us over the line! While the rest of the top order collapsed, these 2 both got their half centuries and finished it in style, good win for Pakistan :D Inzamams first innings won us the game though, without that I don't think we would have stood a chance.

This levels the series at 1-1 with one test left, so it should be a good one. :)

Great stuff by the Pak's, thought for a min there they were going to throw the game away but an awesome stand by Younis and Akmal brought them home.

Looking forward to the next test, hopefully Pak will win it:).

Just tuned into the India vs WI game.

West Indies need 37 to win from 42 balls but they are 7 wickets down. Chanderpaul is still there, I really hope they do it, the guy played awesome last game for his 149 not out. Will be a tight finish.

edit: India go 2-0 up.
