Vista keeps on crashing...

well the mobo drivers that came with the board, didn't work proply to start with. but I got them working later, despite not actually changing anything to make them work.

I'm gessin I'll just have to sell my system then... and buy some cheap system with the money I get from selling my computer that doesn't even work... probly nothing.

after it's done a memtest, it won't display any results. not sure why.

I've just formatted the hdd, and am gonna try and reinstall vista,

I don't have a legit cop of xp.

i don't know about newer systems that much (still using ddr1, opteron + 7900gt) but you may need a better power supply

stabbing in the dark a bit though

-check eventviewer

winkey + r, eventvwr

look under system for any events around the time of the crashes

Microsoft PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA :
Explanation:

This Stop message occurs when requested data is not found in memory. The system generates a fault, which normally indicates that the system looks for data in the paging file. In this circumstance, however, the missing data is identified as being located within an area of memory that cannot be paged out to disk. The system faults, but cannot find, the data and is unable to recover. Faulty hardware, a buggy system service, antivirus software, and a corrupted NTFS volume can all generate this type of error.

User Action:

This Stop message usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, either main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM). If hardware has been added to the system recently, remove it to see if the error recurs. If existing hardware has failed, remove or replace the faulty component.

Another vote for dodgy RAM. Test the sticks 1 at a time with memtest86+, then do a test in pairs. Also what voltage are you running the RAM at, try bumping the voltage up a notch. Also are you overclocking the RAM, if you are put them back to stock for the time being.

ram is not being oc'ed, and in my bios for some reason it doesn't seem to allow you to change the RAM voltage from "Auto". But if some one could explain how to do it then I'd be greatful. I havn't got any other ddr2 ram to test it with, and I can't test my ddr2 ram, on another board, because my only other system is ddr1.

But I'll try and have a play around with the RAM, tomorow night, as I'm busy tonight. Does anyone know what voltage my ram should be running at?

thanks for all ** help guys, I'll keep you updated.

I've set the ram to 1.9v, and it seems to have stopped crashing, and is generally more stable.

I installed vista again with no problems. But I installed the mobo drivers, and now it wont boot into windows. Could it be becasue the mobo drivers supplied (on the CD) are 32-bit, and they need to be 64-bit?

Yantorsen.
