AMD Pure Hair comes at a very low performance hit - Great stuff

Just thought I would see what the hit was between Pure Hair on and off and it really does come in at such a low performance hit (thank Gawd, as the game is demanding enough). Game is stunning with plenty of options from AA to AO to shadows, so should be something for everyone but really impressed with the TressFX follow up and good work AMD :cool:


Needs to switch to 1080P before watching really and Youtube isn't the quickest :p
 
Yup, plus it looks AMAZING! Loving the looks of the game so far. It just needs better SLI scaling to prevent those random fps drops I get.
 
Hair looks good, She looks good, Kinda hot, even when she's covered in grime, But maybe that's the mechanic in me :D

All we need is a driver now, In the Syria tomb when you find the main area the stutter on AMD is awful.

I hope you do get a driver asap as well. On the NV side, it's great bar some SLI scaling issues on parts.

Lara looks fantastic though.

so what they changed the name tressfx to pure hair ? beside didnt see much of a difference between ON/Off hair
 
Yea pure hair on looked much better than without. More realistic movements of the hair than without. Surprised its only a small performance hit though? Usually noticeable with such tech.
 
What struck me is that there is wind in that tunnel and the hair blows about with it off, but with it on it just moves as if there is no wind anywhere.

Seems they turned some kind off physics off with real hair enabled.
 
Unless it's a gale force wind hair wouldn't move around much at all, more to the point the non pure hair movement is hilariously bad. One clump is basically freaking out while the rest stays still then when the head is moved it's jumping around in a completely unrealistic manor. Pure hair off looks completely ridiculous.
 
Well I have been glued to this for the last 4 hours ish and it is simply the best looking game I have played. Dropped to SMAA from SSAA and sitting above 60fps and only occasional drops to 58ish fps at 1440P with everything else on max. Great game and very good thus far for gameplay. Eidos did a great job with another TR and performance is sweet all round.
 
I have seen some Youtube reviews and in one of them they complain about stuttering with the Nvidia gameready drivers. They rolled them back and the stuttering was gone. ???

I am seeing some really poor framerates in this game with what should be good cards. I am not looking forward to running this later tonight. I think I am going to be disappointed with the way it has turned out.

Guys can anyone on this forum remind me what kind of framerates we were getting from Tomb Raider 2013 from Titan X/980/980Ti/Fury/FuryX/970 etc... would be good for a comparison, as I see no real difference in graphics from this one to the last one to be honest (Well at least in the videos anyway).

Also what settings can we knockdown to get the framerate up with minimal impact on the visuals.

Agreed with this. I am very impressed and the hair works better and doesn't slice poor Lara's shoulders like it did in 2013 TR. Great work AMD and nice one :cool:
 
I was watching that video and thinking the two cards were pretty much trading blows depending on the scenery etc...then I thought **** what the hell is happening here....the frame rate is tanking very badly...

I didnt notice that they had changed to an Xbone and an i3 processor :p

Right I can restart my heart now. LOL

I just hope it plays well enough for me to enjoy it. :D
