Hi all

Can you please recommend a Wired USB Mouse.

I'm currently using the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 but wish to get a slightly larger mouse as I find it a tad too small for prolonged use. Otherwise. it's a quality mouse.

So something slightly larger with equal (or better) build quality and weighty (premium) feel please. I don't need the presenter features!

In terms of budget anything reasonable.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I don't game.

[Default mouse thread reply activated] Logitec MX518 [/End]

Lol, so true

Although, do you have any idea what the DPI of your current mouse is? I couldn't see it from your link. If you are not a gamer and are used to lower DPI it might be more sensible not to go for that. Also if you are used to a wireless mouse then would you want to go back to wired?
Most Logitech mice are a good idea though, generally well built and do the job.

EDIT: Just realised you said wired in the title of the thread, if the look of the MX518 doesn't bother you then it probably is the best choice.

I think it's 1000 dpi.

Wired as I move between OS's (Linux) a lot so saves time setting bluetooth connection - I know it only takes a couple of minutes but they add up and frustration builds

I note evryone is suggesting Gaming mice any advantages to me?

I wasn't suggestion making woopie with one :) I'm on my second, serious Counter Strike tool it is

Edit: Even my wife has one at work and she's never played a PC game in her life!

It is a good mouse from what I've heard but I don't think I could stand having that on my desk :p. It's like having a girlfriend that looks like Shrek but is a really good cook :D.

Well the main difference is that gaming mice generally have higher DPI, this doesn't really offer much advantage with general use unless you are used to it. Gaming mice also sometimes offer extra programmable buttons. I am not sure how this could be used for general use either to be honest.

I think that something like this would be more suited to your needs. Has the same DPI as your current one but does a look a little larger to hold in the hand. I haven't had any experience with it and I can't find any decent reviews online (that I am allowed to link to, possibly look at other online distributors user reviews).

I use a Sidewinder X3, bought it for £12 last november, it's a bit plasticy but nice and responsive. If you're left handed, IIRC don't get the MX518.

Higher up the budget chain than that, I'm not really too sure.

I find 'gaming' products - especially logitech - to be more rugged and longer lasting... that's just my experience of course

I'd recommend ANY mouse by logitech - any mouse at all :)

For the ruggedness of a good gaming mouse, without the bland funky looks of the 518, I'd suggest the G500 :) - I'm using the G5 which is it's predecessor and I don't use it for gaming alone... it is a really good mouse for general use - and should the need for gaming arise, it'll kick some ass there too :D
