Hey all

currently i am awaiting confirmation on an order i placed for 2 GTX295 cards.
but i am now to believe that there will be no more manufacturing of these cards, in readyness for the Fermi cards.

i would be grateful for any advice on what to do if i cant get these cards, plus im a little tired of waiting for Nivida.

Thanks
Paul

firstly, 2 295's is a big waste of money, you would be better trying to get 3 gtx285's as the driver support is much better.

as far am i aware though, production has stopped on those cards, so maybe a well known auction website.

im a tad dissapointed, as i have a brand new 1000w psu sitting in a case just waiting to be powered up

Stick a single 5970 in there and bank any money left over. (It's as fast as 2x 295)
Lucky for you they were EOL'd!
Now that would have been a costly mistake!

im putting together a new system, and it was advised by OC to go for a 1000w to run the 2 GTX295's

i did have a 750w orginally on my order

well think of it this way you now have a big heavy juicy psu that will survive you into many years to come with upgrades, and save youself some cash and either get two 285's or go the ATI route... is dependant on your motherboard though buddy

^^^
Again unless you got a real h*rd-on for Nvidia, the 285's are almost just as bad a choice.

Like i said tho depends on his motherboard, if he already has or is choosing an nForce chipset then ATI is useless to him

what about 2 XFX GeForce GTX 285 1024MB ?

This is being discussed lolz

EDIT: motherboard supports both formats of multi gpu you say, well its a no brainer to go for the ATI route then

Don't even consider any nVidia GTX200 cards, waste of money. If you MUST get a card now, get 2 5850s and crossfire them.

Unless you actually need nVidia cards for a specific reason... CUDA, 3D Vision or like me just don't get on with ATI, theres no reason to buy the 200 series any more - they've had their day.

How can you NOT get on with ATI, it's a graphics card that sits in your PC and does the job better than the current NVIDIA gfx cards. It does not have different moods or anything...

OT:
Good choice! 2x 5870 is much better! :)
