Hi there

Check out our 20" section. The new viewsonic is a real nice piece of kit and I think the price is cracking. Its not much more expensive than a 20" but a lot cheaper than the 24" alternatives. Plus its got good fast response time too.

Peoples thoughts?

Well I had been looking at the NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 20.1

But this is larger AND cheaper!! With similar specs.

Will be good to see some reviews.

Gibbo - have you got any idea what panel it uses? How does it compare to the Nec?

Looks like its a good addition to the OcUK range though!! :)

Hi there

It uses an MVA panel with true 16.7m colours. :)

looks stunning if i neeeded a new tft i would deffo consider this very highly, i have a vx724 and i can say viewsonic make stunning and very fast tft's, but i use my 32inch sammy with this pc now, size does matter and i would reccomend trying to get the biggest tft you can for the right price, and this screen looks the part

Just to be clear....

The NEC uses a AS-IPS panel doesnt it?! And it also supports the full 16.7M colours?

How do you think the two panels would campare in:

a) gaming

b) dvd playback

Or is it too early to say?

Thanks :)

Think I might give up on my seemingly endless wait for a problem-free hdmi enabled, 1080p 24" monitor and get one of these instead.

That is if its any good for gaming and video.

I was planning on buying a Viewsonic VX2025wm 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor @ £305.44 Including VAT around august/september time. For just £50 more this 22" widescreen monitor has me very interested. Would be nice to have a comparison between the two. I know the VX2025wm has 8ms response time and 800:1 contrast ratio while the VX2235wm has 5ms respone time and 700:1 contrast ratio. Any idea which would give the better quality for gaming/movie playback?

Where's Baddass? :p

Looking good Gibbo :) There is so little information available online about the VX2235WM!! From what I can see from the specs, it looks like it is using an 5ms G2G S-MVA panel from Chi Mei Optoelectronics, their M220Z1-L01 panel :)

This is going to vary in performance to IPS based screens like the NEC LCD20WGX2, but we don't know what it's performance is going to be like until it's released. In fact i'm not aware of any other models which use this panel yet.

Its good - but a little disappointed with the 20" resolution though but certainly a belter of a price

Not my idea of good styling though

Would you really notice the extra inch (or two) at the same res though - I dont really think it would be that obvious myself.

now if it had a different res , then I for one would leap at getting one ( or maybe two) but its just a bit more of the same really.

bigger screen...with same res as a 20". It sounds good for p[eformance...but the image quality just might not look so good. The pixel size must be bigger...I can guess that you would more AA enbaled to get the same image quality oif the 20" models. Interesting though...might give it a try!

I think this will be a good one for gamers, but movie watchers may not get the quality they would expect...

@Gibbo: any chance of getting the Acer 24" monitor for OcUK?

These look great!

Well the specs do anyway...

I was gonna get a 1680 x 1050 monitor but I'm worried about this resolution for games. It would bug me if i had to play with black bits either side (Another point, does it have 1:1 mapping?) and it would also bug me if it stretched the picture and looked rubbish, no wonder they're cheaper than 1600 x 1200 tfts.

Does anyone know of any games that run at 1680 x 1050?

most of them really. If they dont you can make them. I am not sure why people always say widescreens must have 1:1 PM as ive had one now for 3 months and never once thought I would prefer balck bits down the side of the screen. Games I play...HL2, CSS, DOD, BF2, FEAR, Oblivion can all do widescreen.

That's good news. Are they all aligned pixel to pixel perfection?

The only games i play other than those are DOW and WOW, and most probably Prey when its out.

I'm probably going to get the Viewsonic VX2025wm 20" as its within my budget and I don't want to wait!
