2407FPW release date and price

It's still just short of a grand. I would say buy the 2405 from 'that reseller that we all know' when it's still available at a good price.

From the specs posted on the Dell US website it looks like the 20" won't have HDCP support (unlike the 30" version). Very disappointing.

Are there still no 20" widescreens which actually do support HDCP on their DVI connections (or over HDMI)?

Not sure if you know but: (NEC LCD20WMGX2 - M = Multimedia)

'' It seems that US version of this monitor is HDCP enabled. However, Europe/UK version is not HDCP enabled, according to the response from Melanie (NEC UK). It seems that HDCP is not supported on their desktop range. What seems to me is that they are trying to separate then men from the boys, in other words LCD TV from the LCD desktop monitor. Obviously, sales policy between US and Europe is different. ''

Looks like the only 20'' screen with HDCP.

Guys got anymore ?

Edited*

There are just 12 atm that support HDCP:

Gateway FPD2185W
HP f2105
NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2
Samsung SyncMaster 244T
Viewsonic VP2330wb
Dell 3007WFP
Samsung 214T
Samsung 930MP
Samsung 940MW
Samsung 242MP
Sony MFM-HT95
Sony MFM-HT75W

Do a google search for '' size.

Hope this helps.

Why are the people so obsessed with HDCP ? and why all that fuss ? I would rather focus on other major capabilities of the monitor, apart from HDCP, when considering and possibly finalising the next purchase. UK/Europe situation with the HDCP/HDTV is rather unpredictable and it may happen that format or implementation of that so-called "feature" will change.

Compatibility with Vista!, Fuss? well if you want to play HD content in Vista you will need HDCP compliant hardware to run it.

Yeah, I'm aware of the technology and what is involved from the technical point of view. Monitor have to be compatible with Vista ?! Come on, give me a break  I can understand HD content play and similar considerations for the LCD TV, but I suppose that desktop LCD monitor have also other things to do ;) Also, you will be able to play the HD content on the non HDCP monitor, but with the scaled down resolution.

Anyhow, I have my firm stand about the HDCP scandal so there is not much point to elaborate this further in this thread where the subject is completely different matter.

I can get my mitts (at the moment) on a 2405w for myself for £400 inc delivery (brand new, 3 year warranty blah blah) through a scheme through work. I've got one in work and I think its great. At home as well as my PC I'll have it plugged into my Xbox 360 for HD gaming.

Question really is should I wait to see what these new 2407w's are like ? And risk that great price on the 2405w ?
