Yay, in a great mood today, finally got myself a new job. I've been living and working in Leeds for over 7 years now, and for the past 3 years have been waiting for the right job to come along so I can move back to Liverpool to be with my family, friends and gf. Went for an interview last Wednesday, and got a call in the afternoon to say they couldn't decide between 2 of us for the post, and were waiting on references before making their minds up. Got the call this morning and they told me that they couldn't decide in the end, so we've both been offered a job! :D

The job is IT support in a school in Liverpool, about a 10 minute walk from where I'll be living. It's going to be hard work without doubt, but that'll suit me fine, days go faster when you're working hard I find. Handing in my notice this afternoon, and then it's 4 weeks left until I can finally go home.

Yay me! \o/ :D

Congrats. 'Tis good news indeed. So how big is the school, how many PCs etc? Are you and the other lucky person the only ones or will you be part of a team?

I used to work as a teaching assistant in an Upper school but because of my IT skills and the small IT support team (2!!) I helped them out a bit. Turns out they now have a third member of the team. Apparently he looks like me and some of my old students call him "Mr Lister". Poor thing, probably doesn't know if that is good or bad.;)

Well done Davey. :) Reducing your commute like that will change your life, I went from ~1 hour to 5 min and the difference was unbelievable.

Thats excellent news buddy. Congratulations. Is it a school as in Primary, Secondary or college?

Secondary School, which doubles as an Art College so does some evening and summer courses for adults (though I don't have to do our of hours support).

Nice one. :)

Sounds like what I'd want to get...

Whats the pay\hours etc like?

The hours are 8-4pm every day, and 8-3:30pm in the summer. The pay is not great, about £15.5k a year, so it's a bit of a drop for me, but the lack of commuting, plus the fact I may sell my car as I'll have no real need for it, more than make it worthwhile. Plus the experience I'll get should make it all the better.

The school is surprisingly big, I've no doubt I'll lose some weight walking between each block (they took us on a school tour which lasted easily 90 minutes and they didn't show us everything). They did tell me how many pc's, but I've forgotten now :o I think it's about 500 or so. Myself and the other chap will be joining a team which currently has 2 people in it, so we'll double the size. There'll be plenty of work to go around though, I know that much.

Sounds pretty good to me, hope you enjoy it. :)
