Here's what I want to do, but can it be done?

My internet connection has a dynamic IP address, it's changing daily. It would be very useful to be able to remotely log into my pc from when I'm not at home but this is proving very very difficult with the IP changing all the time.

So, is there a way to have a domain name pointing to my home PC (ie. my home IP address) but with some way to update the IP address automatically when it changes to the domain settings?
(I hope that makes sense)

thanks

As above for a yourname.dyndns.com (well, I think there's a fair number of domains you can choose from), or for a normal domain name, try zonedit.com; after having registered the name first, of course.
There are many clients (inc the offical dyndns.com one) that can be used to update the dns name to point to your ip address.

I use dyndns too, there are others out there tzo, no-ip.com.
On a side note, don't rely on your (Linksys) router to update your ip - I have to use dyndns updater (free prog) to do the job.

i would use no-ip.com and use its updater software

some routers let you login to a dns service provider, not all of them do tho.

dns login settings

host: dynupdate.no-ip.com
user: [email protected] ( change to the email addy you signed up with )
pass: ***** ( change to the password noip gave you )

good luck
