Some of you may be aware that Barclays are going to be offering 2 years worth of anti-virus protection through F-Secure A/V.

You can download the software now via the Barclays online banking site although the code to use it won't be sent out until June (by mail).

The BBC also have a story about it here:

is it any good tho?

From what i can find out about it, it does'nt seem to bad. Seem to have got there act together last year and are now receiving awards for there detection rate. However it is more of a resource hog apparently.

I'll probably download as it's free and see what it's like but i'm more than happy with Nod32 and can't see myself changing anytime soon.

I use it (2005, just ordered upgrade), never missed a beat. Every now and then one of it's processes starts hogging the CPU and I have to restart otherwise everything slows.

I picked it out as a result of some magazine testing about a year ago and it was the best overall package and I think was the only package not to let a test trojan through.

Their pricing policy is weird, an upgrade through them would have cost me more than buying a retail version from an online store!, and email discussions between them about it died abruptly, however the one tech query I had with them was dealt with promptly.

(Sorry just had a look at the offer, realise it's only AV free on offer, I use internet security)

I know of a company that used this and as said it is a massive resource hog also the updates don't work properly most of the time (requiring you to stop the download and then redo it)

Better now that it's free but I won't be using it...
