My latest MCE machine has restricted Freeview reception in comparison to the previous unit, and I am trying to figure out if it is likely to be the TV card or.........?
I used to have an ASUS Terminator SFF, with Avermedia hybrid PCI TV tuner card, running on a 2.4GHz Celeron.....and have recently built a Aspire QPack system around MSI K8NGM2-FID, Venice 3000+, 2x512MB DDR, Leadtek DTV2000H hybrid TV card......
MCE (and Leadtek's own DTV app) allegedly pick up all the same (60 odd) channels, but several (seems to be on certain Transport Streams/Multiplexes) channels do not seem to display video and stutter heavily in audio.
Now, the previous system/card had no such problems, so I am figuring that this eliminates the aerial/signal quality in it's own right......and am at a loss to fix this ! Channel 5 is an example of unavailable channel, although MCE/Leadtek app think it is there.....just no video and heavily disjointed/stuttering sound.....and some radio stations too.....and so on !
I reckon that :
1 - Not a PC capability issue - specs are now notably better....
2 - Not software - both MCE and Leatek app exhibit exact same channel fails
3 - Not an aerial issue - previous setup managed just fine
So, must be either TV card has inferior reception capability.....or something else ?????
Anyone got any thoughts/experience to help ?
Perhaps there is a decent little app that shows signal quality/strength detected by the TV card itself ?
