Sony PS3 Q+A (Leaked)

Q28. Why did you reduce the number of Ethernet ports from 3 to 1 ?
A28. We had one input (WAN) and two outputs (LAN) in mind, but given that nowadays network connection is spreading within the homes, we considered that one Ethernet connection to a router would be sufficient.

Seems they wanted the PS3 to be a router aswell :/

See they have Changed the Region coding for BD was not Japen and Europe in the same Region

Region Coding

BD region coding is a simplified version of the DVD region coding system. For BD, the regions are :

Region A - USA and Japan
Region B - Europe, Australia and New Zealand and most of the old PAL territories
Region C - Russia and Asia

So then, PlayStation 3 is a computer system.

:p

Some rather silly, and strange comments there, where they're either twisting the truth to make everything sound good in their favour. Any my god do they use the Computer System a lot. You can use that excuse for everything, like the no memory card reading, no wireless, not as many USB ports.... Computer System!! :p

Such as:
Q17. Won't having two models increase cost ? Can you expect the economy of scale with two models ?
A17. We don't have two different models. It is one model with different configuration just like with PCs. Therefore, economy of scale can be pursued.

Q34. You say that PS3 provides backward compatibility of PS and PS2 titles, but would you insist that you offer complete backward compatibility even if vibration feature does not work ?
A34. There is no major difference in gameplay even without the vibration feature. We hope a lot of users will support the new PS3 controller with new ways of enjoyment.

Though for many games the rumble adds to the gameplay, and can sometimes be required for things.

Q40. Do all titles shown at E3 support 1080p ?
A40. "Gran Turismo HD E3 2006" is demonstrated at 1080p with frame rate of 60 frames per second. As for other titles, some are 1080p and some 720p.

Interesting that one, my guess the more power hungry/less efficient games will get displayed on 720p, whereas the rest on 1080i/p.

Q41. How many launch titles do you expect to have ?
A41. We expect the best launch line-up in history.

That's a solid number. And from what I have seen of the Launch line up, it looks pretty pants to me personally.

Nothing really new, if this is legitimate anyway, still looking forward to it though.

Lol, he should have replied with "thats not a number, its an opinion" and see what he got back :)

EDIT: How do they have "clear black"

.

That one makes zero sense - they are having two different models with different features that cannot be changed outside of the production line.

How the hell does that become one model with different configurations?

The 360 is one model with different configs, because the basic unit remains the same and it's only the accesories that change between the two versions (the main unit can be swapped between either premium or basic packs).

It could be something lost in translation, or Sony just trying to get themselves out the the corner / hole they have with the whole system. But, by the sounds of it, you should be able to upgrade your PS3 to the more expensive version via USB addons, though would look rather silly with lots of cables sticking out a wireless console...

Interesting point on Blu-Ray and HDMI stuff, saying that analogue Blu-Ray stuff will still be supported all the way up to 2011.

Call me a sceptic (or a fan-boy ElRazur ;)) but does it seem to you that sony are still making over the top claims about their console that will latter need to be retracted (and by retracted I mean they will pretend they never made them) because they were incorrect.

Also whilst they are claiming things like "You can upgrade your PS3 with any 2.5" Sata drive" I bet that really means "We will be selling larger Drives and you will need a regestered Sony engineer to fit it."
