So this is the deal, you waited for the ps3, you have supported Sony (for whatever reasons) and paid that high price for that top of the range PS3 come PC (what Sony are calling it), you've gone out and brought a game for £50 (or more)

for what?

To play Call Of Duty 3 prehaps?, which is identical to the xbox360 version!, which is cheaper probably on the 360 and you could have had 1 year earlier and be enjoying all the games right now!

let me explain:

PS3 Gets The Call - Not True High-Def

It has been confirmed that Call of Duty 3 will be a PS3 launch title, however a dutch website states that it will not have 1080p output and the game will be identical to the Xbox 360 version.

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Dutch website Shizzle was there and has reported that the game footage that was shown at the event looked identical to the short clip that's been floating around the internet like a viral video.
Shizzle's Karsten reports: They said Call of Duty 3 would be a PS3 launch game, and the game would not have 1080p output (the game will be identical to the Xbox 360 version, so 720p/1080i).

So it seems that the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 version are virtually the same, with the exception that the PS3 version will not have the 1080p industry standard.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So there you have it

Think you'll find this will be the trend in future games, and please i'm not having a go at PS3 fans, just curious to understand why you insist that you'll never buy a 360 even though the majority of the games will be identical on the 360 system with cheaper game prices and hardware, yet your all so keen to rush out and buy a over expensive PS3 which does the exact same thing, and the only advantage is Blu-Ray which IMHO isn't even ready to roll for the average person for at least another year or so - if it ever takes of at all.

Yeah, but on the Xbox360 version can you real time weapons change?

LOL, very very funny. That is still one of the fav quotes on the power of the PS3.

But as for CoD3 being the same as the 360 version? What do you expect? Multi-platform games are going to target the middle ground, so unlikely to really push either console.

Also, think about the loss of rumble on the PS3. I doubt the tilt sensors will be overly useful in the PS3 controller for this game, but the rumble in the 360 will be nice.

exactly, there is next to no 1080p displays out at present , and the ones that are carry a hideous price tag. No doubt they will be more commenplace in the future.

I myself am not a fan of sony or their consoles ( apart from the PS1 ) but all this sony bashing is getting well OTT, I wont be buying the PS3 on launch or anywhere close to launch with the price tag on it but if sony do manage to pull something out of the bag there are going to be a few people here with egg on their faces.

Every console has its 1st batch of iffy games, just look at the 360, which I own. Motogp which wasnt a launch game has the most appaling framerate issues i have seen on a console game for quite some years ( i never played that driving/shooting game :p )

I dont see the PS3 being any differant, with sony's own games looking far more polished then the other developers, but they will catch up, they always do.

so thats one game hmmmmm so every game is gonna be the same.........

PS I was never a CoD fan anyway lol

if its a release for 360 and ps3 then i would say yes there will be no difference, (except for lack of rumble in the ps3), i expect in house games to possibly be better than what xbox360 can do, but then again i expect Halo3 and Forza 2, PGr3 to be the same as they know more about the hardware and have the money.

So i ask, why pay more for something that does nothing better at launch on most cross platform games, is it the name on the console,? or just them few exclusives which are not out at launch anyway?, why not buy the ps3 at a later date and save some money when these exclusives are out, why support at launch and cost you more?

Because it's not just having cross platform games. Just because the Xbox 360 is out now doesn't mean people should just buy that instead, as there are going to be "Killer Apps" on the PS3, like there are on the 360.

The PS3 also has advantages over the 360 such as Blu-Ray support on games, true 1080 output, not upscaled on certain games, internet browsing etc, and a lot more futureproof out of the box than the 360 is.

I say let other people make their own mistakes, some people will wait for the PS3, pay an extortionate price, then play 90% the same games as the x360 peeps. So what if thats what they want to do, what really matters is we are happy with our x360's, and some of us have been since last year (I have). I certainly wont be buying a PS3.

I have an internet browser, its called a PC, and I really dont think blue ray will take off. if they are sony's only trump cards then... they better hope the sony fanboys like it (which of course they will).

as a gamer, the first priority of any games console i buy is of course the games. In fact the only priority is the games, i dont care about any other extras it comes with and the ps3 will have exclusive sequels which i know i will like.

also, i dont think anyone who is buying a ps3 will be getting one for cod3

I heard CoD3 was being designed primarily for the 360 then ported to PS3 and perhaps in the future PC, I can't find the article now but I'm sure it was on 3d gamers.

Even if Blu-Ray doesn't take off, it's still a necessary advantage over the 360 as that's the format Sony will be using for their games, giving an advantage of silly amounts of space available for games, though Xbox 360 games will just have to use multiple disks, which is just a couple of seconds extra time to change over etc.

The PS3 on paper also should in the long term be able to provide a lot more graphical power than the Xbox 360, but from the first couple of years I doubt we'll be able to tell the difference between then two.

Still, the PS3 doesn't have enough games to make me want one at launch yet, maybe for MGS4, but that's a while away anyway, I will be getting a 360 though in the next week or so, as I feel it's the right time.

Hmmmm i personally think this thread is 5 months too early.
Bring it back when we see what the PS3 launch line up is and the console is out. As its still to early to judge anything, and one game CoD3 isnt exactly the worlds best benchmark.
CoD2 was cheaper, looked better, had better controls and a decent amount of players on online multiplayer (8 plays in a WW2 shooter he he) but it still sold by the bucketload and nobody really cared.
So lets just wait and see shall we?

Personally I haven't seen anything to make me jump up and go buy a 360, except maybe Gears of War, but thats just one game and it isn't even out yet. Also I wont pass judgment over PS3 simply because it isn't available yet. At least wait until the full launch lineup is revealed. Sony usually don't fail in that department. But then again if its a poor showing I wont be buying a PS3 either. I can wait..

Thats just one game... just like the last gen, there will be multi-platform games as well as exclusives. And just like last gen, there will be very little difference between games that are on both PS3 and Xbox 360. Especially EA games.
But some people want to play MGS4, GT5 etc, and some would also like to have a (bargain) blu-ray player. The PS3 and 360 are not exactly the same.
