Info
The single player will not be a linear story driven campaign but instead it will be player driven. The objective of single player is to conquer all of the Meta map which will be divided into teritories of which you will need to attack and conquer enemy territories and defend your own. If you ever played Risk 2 you plan your attacks like that but you then fight out the battles yourself ingame. When controlling one these territories they provide a bonus which will be in the form of equipment which can be placed on your hero unit which will then grant your hero unique abilities and stat upgrades making him even more powerful so it allows you to totally customize your hero. There are 7 scenarios to play through in the single player (one for each race) so not every ending will be the same when you play as different races.
Dark Crusade is a stand alone game that doesn't require the previous games to be played although if you want to play as the previous 5 races you will need both Dawn of War and Dawn of War: Winter Assault. When either or both of these are used with Dark Crusade it allows you to use the previous races which are:
Dawn of War:
Space Marines
Orcs
Eldar
Chaos Space Marines
Dawn of War Winter Assault:
Imperial Guard
It will also allow you to unlock an extra unit for each of these 5 races which will be:
Space Marines
Grey Knights - The Grey Knights will make their appearance on the battlefield of Dark Crusade. As a strong, fast CC unit they will be able to kill units really fast unless they are focussed by too much firepower. Their chargeattack allows them to quickly jump into battle and they can cast a spell to damage opponents in an area of efffect, which jumps over to more opponents, if possible.
Orcs
Flash Gitz - The Flash Gitz do insane damage to anything that makes the mistake to get into the range of their Kustom Shootaz. While not doing that much damage when moving and being not armored too well, standing still they do incredible damage and underestimating them would be the last mistake, you make.
Eldar
Harlequin - A commander unit, that can be built up to three times, which adds another CC Unit to the T2 Eldar Armies. With a unique Instant-Kill spell, it can especially be used to kill champions, apothecaries or sergeants and damage the units around them. Moreover the CC ability Dance of Death will cause a lot toruble to Melee units.
Chaos
Demon prince - The Daemon Prince will strengthen the Chaos melee Power in T3 even more. With the ability to incarnate to a Daemon Prince the Chaos Lord transforms into a tough beast that can easily take on whole armies on his own.
Imperial Guard
Heavy weapons platfroms - Heavy Weapon Platforms will add even more defensive firepower to the IG T2. Upgradable to Lasercannon(T2) or Autocannon (T3), it can be used vs any Units, your opponent will bring into battle.
Decided to make a new thread for this great game in the right section rather then hijack another thread.
Edit: Dark Crusade Demo will be shipping with Comapny of Heroes at the end of September.
