Hey guys,

Really looking for a new case to replace my Cooler Master 830. Its just to big and im pretty bored of it.

I really like the look of the Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case & Window Case. Ive seen a few from the Members on here and they look really nice.

What do people think of the Akasa case? Ive always had Antec before my Cooler master.

Ive got about £100 to spend.

Get it :)

It's a brillant case in terms of cooling and space. The only downside is that the front is plastic, but from what I've heard it isn't weak at all.

Better cooler than what you have already aswell.

As you like the look of it there is nothing that should stop you from buying it. One of the best, if not the best case available for cooling, if you like the look of it aswell it is a win win.

Cheers Guys,

Im really regreting buying the Cooler Master 830. Its just a lump. Stands out like an eye sore and for the money I could have brought better.... Well you live and learn.

Love the look of the Akasa, Does the Case come with front and rear fans as standard?

What colour is the power LED? Some sites say its white, others say its blue.

;)

No its definatly not weak, hardly any flex at all, its made of thick ABS not to be confused with cheap plastic fronts on gaming cases.

I have one and love the look but a lot of people hate it, it might be worth seeing one before you buy.

The power led is blue. There are no fans supplied with the case so you will have to factor that into the cost. Its a shame it doesn't come with fans but i suppose it gives people the chance to choose what fan they want. IMO the Akasa Amber fans would be a good choice for use with this case.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Thought I would post a pic of her in her glory...

Case
-----
Its great, bigger than it looks on the net and any photo of it. Its quite long but still much smaller than the Cooler Master 830.
Build of the case is great, all smooth edges and the black colour throughout makes it really different.

Loads of room inside for everything. Really happy with it.

I brought the Akasa fan controller and two Akasa 120mm Amber fans. Is there anyway to keep the colour setting on the fan controller? Everytime you turn off the PC it reverts back to red.

You won't go wrong with it IMO.
I bought one and built a rig with it for a friend about 12 months ago and was very impressed with it. Every time I see or here of it I consider getting one for myself. Tons of room - you could use it as a spare bedroom :)

In fact this post may well have pushed me over the edge into going for it. I do have a fancy for the Mirage though as I like a door on my PC cases.

Thats quite odd, mine keeps its colour. No idea mate :(

Awesome to see a glowing review.... because mine should be waiting for me when I get home! :D
Only problem is I cant find a 3fan Akasa controller in black anywhere with stock! Doh :)

Looks great there, are those Akasa Ambers I can see in the case?

Is it quiet? :)

Yep they are Ambers mate.

To me the Ambers are quite loud on 12v. With the fan controller on low the system is pretty quiet, You can just hear the raptor.

Note on the Ambers, The screws to attach the fan to the case are very very tight!!! They seem like they are not big enough.

Yep they are loud on 12v and even on 7v imo, i run mine at 5v and they are really quiet. i have the PC right next to me on my desk and just forget its even on as its so quiet. When i put it back to 7v a while ago it seemed very loud and knew it was on lol. Also if i was you id get some rubber mounts for your fans, they make changing fans a breeze and also stop any vibrations you might get.

Good to see another Eclipse fan :) , I'm glad your pleased with it, it looks better in the flesh than in pictures. The only thing id recommend is stealth your drives as i don't think the eclipse looks as good with slightly lighter black drives, especially with it being curved.

Any chance of posting some closeups of the side and internals, top aswell?

EDIT: I'm getting this case too, would spray painting the drive bezels be a good idea?

No problems, will try and get some photos up tonight. ;)

Oh cheers, see there's plenty of room to put unused wires on the side of the PSU, exactly what I want :) What's the black box next to your optical drive btw?

Edit: I'm gona use the case to hold an extended ATX mobo and kinda worried about the amount of holes in the mobo tray. I know it supports eATX mobos but is it easy enough to drill extra holes if needed, are the holes threaded or plain?

Thats just space mate.
The case is a good bit wider than most cases :)

-its actually a cover or support or something, its level with the drive. LOADs of space underneath :)

2 more pics coming right up.....
just wait for the edit:

here ya go:
Hopefully they show that space a bit better

Aaah that's better, I see you've put a fan controller(?) above the optical drive which means more cable storage, horrah!!! Cheers man.

Nice pics PinkFloyd, your cable management looks similar to mine :D . Its a great case for hiding wires and as my mum is always saying "out of sight out of mind" or something to that effect.
