Here are some pics of a mod me and a friend have been working on for the P180 that he bought off me a few weeks back, Ive been able to give a hand today just to finish off a few bits, seeing as my project has come to a standstill...

Theres still an amount of work to be done on the project, mainly fixing the lights up properly, and attaching the fans to the AC grill (no watercooling atm) and of course install the components.

That does look nice. Well done. Im not sure about the Rad grill, its too raised IMO and detracts from the simple lines of the p180. Would be better IMO if it was somehow sunk in so it was flush with the case surface.

Looking good, the etch detail is nice and stands out well without the light.

I've seen something similar I've wanted to try myself, the panel was etched then a discrete LED postioned than just illuminated the panel and the etched area really stood out.

Another AC grill fan :D I reckon they are the best on the market, if only they did large bore cooling.

Did you make the plexi grill?

no, I didnt make the grill. It was made by a contact that we have with a guy who is a precision engineer, specialising in plastics and sheet aluminium. It was cut on a professional mill. The etching was also done professionally by a CNC machine.

esentially this isnt my mod, its a quick easy mod thats been farmed out and simply put together by myself and my friend, although when all the plexi work was done for the cost of a crate of beer, its of a fairly good standard.

The side window when illuminated by the cold cathode just behind it, the etching does get a nice effect from the glowedge plexi used, I just simply could not get the workshop dark enough for it to be noticeable.

I have been ribbing my mate about the fact hes done little work on the case himself, but to be honest you would really struggle for the quality of finish using a router or router-stand for the dremel, so its well worth farming such a complicated cut-out to someone who has the correct equipment. I will definately be using the contact in the future, as it will allow for some very ambitious designs.

ed- [BRAND_SNOB]yeah the AC grills are the absolute s4x, cant do any mod without one, even if there isnt WC inside[/BRAND_SNOB] ;)

the small bore system they use does have potential, I will use one, just not for my CPU or GFX, it will be useful though for cooling of RAM/NB/HDD though :)

Here are some final pics of the mod, got all the components in today, fitted the grill/fans as well as fixing the lighting properly, also had to do a bit of soldering on the lighting in order to extend a cable, otherwise it went pretty smoovley:

What lights are they that you are using gr1mey? Are they 6inch?
I need to find some for my case., they seem very bright.

Looking good mate, i like the etch on the window. I bet its good to have a mate thats into modding as well, most of the people i know have beige PC's and wouldn't even dream of doing anything to them.

those are 4" A.C.Ryan cold cathodes.

Yeah it makes it an even more fun hobby having someone to work with, and brainstorm ideas with ;)
