Greetings,
Thought I would have a play with a couple of X1900GT's in Xfire and I am very impressed. While a single X1900GT is nothing to shout out about and is infact slower than the X1800XT 256MB the X1900GT crossfire is another matter. Basically your getting 7950GX2 performance for about £230 + vat

Here's the stock X1900GT Xfire results in 3D mark 06 which beats my 7950GX2 at its default clock. Quite Impressive.

3DMark Score 8245 3DMarks

SM 2.0 Score 3203 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 3463 Marks
CPU Score 3113 Marks

Nice thing about this setup is you don't need a mastercard and makes less noise than a GX2 especially under load.

Hi there

Nice results m8 but we know 3D Mark is pretty crap and is synthetic based.

As you have both a 7950 GX2 and X1900 GT Crossfire any chance of some gaming benchmarks from the popular titles available at say 1280x1024 maximum details and also the highest resolution your monitor can support?

Hey m8,
I here what you say but IMHO its not a bad indication of what is possible with optimized drivers.I don't have the GX2 any more, long story but there is a post about it. I use a 2405 and run at 1920x1200. I have just been playing with Oblivion and it totally destroys a GX2 and is a lot faster than my old X1900 XT-X in the tree areas. Using ATItools which does have some issues with Xfire I was getting upto 70 FPS in the tree areas.

ITs going to be difficult to spend much more time doing this. I have a few 6600 L628A345 I need to check to see the max OC and a BadAxe 305 with a ICS clockgen staring me in the face. Happy days. Will try my best

The 7800's will clock to 475/1300 which is not that much as they get very hot in games like 90c

Sometimes its easy to loose track. Old, lol tech can still hold its own. That setup there paired with a decent processor is faster than a stock 7950GX2. Well in 3D Mark 06 anyway. Makes you think.

Anyway i'm going to have a play with Titan Quest with this setup see how it plays. For a Diablo type game it thrashed this X1800XT to a crawl last night.

"Again Nonsense"??? What the hell are you on about???

try READING MY POST. I said at "7950GX2 at its default clock"

Its a £230+ vat solution. So what it takes two slots?

Do you have any other function on these boards other than winding people up and causing conflict?

Hey, that looks pretty good m8.
Considering the cheap price you can get the X1900GT's for it looks like quite a potent setup.

Really is a cheap, quiet and like you said potent setup.

I have been playing with a about 6 of these cards now trying to find what the max overclock is. Seems to be between 580-630. Default is 513. These are the Sapphire cards with the red heatsink. What I am finding is that the OC is being limited by the cooling. While quiet they are not shifting enough heat away. I might try and stick my maze 4 on later and see if they can be pushed further.

Do all the Sapphire cards now come with those nifty red (X1950XTX) coolers?

The ones on the X1900GT are a single slot version that take up pretty much the entire length of the card and are made of copper. Really is a massive heatsink and the fan is quiet small in comparison.

Sorry I can't take any photo's I'm at work.

VERY interesting Post.

I'm now interested - originally the 1900GT would only XFire with a 1900 Master Card, but now it seems it'll do it in software ?! Wow.

I'm interested, but is a PCI-Ex 4x Slot going to limit me ??? My P5WD2 board supports a 16x Lane and a 4x Lane but is Xfire enabled, so I'm wondering if it would be worth it ?

Also, I have the Connect3D card, and OCUK do not have these anymore, so is there anychance that I could get a different manu. card and pair it up ??

Oooooh, Crossfire, was never interested before due to the price, but now I am !!!!!!!

On the lower end cards you can use mixed branded cards for software crossfire, dont see any reason why it wont be possible for different X1900GT makes to be run together.

Its all done in software and you dont need a dongle just 2 of the same type boards or lower end board.

You will be probably limited with a 4X slot.

All X1900GT should work in software. There's an article on the ATI website about it.

From the limited play time with Fear, Oblivion, Titan Quest, Darkstar One. It looks like you get anywhere between 25-50% (roughly) increase in speed. Via the Ati TrayTools OSD which did have a few issues in Xfire.
