OK, I now have bits for some surgery on my P5W, looking for a little advice on choices.....

Firstly, I have some AS5, which will complement my Ninja Plus nicely :D and have read the instructions for application.......

Secondly, I have 3 different type of Akasa chipset (4cm) fans....which is best for where ? I have the AK-161 (4x4x2), the AK-160 (4x4x1) and even an AK-210 (heatsink and fan).....really looking to get my temps down, so thinking of replacing SB cooler and sticking one fan on the northbridge....

Also bought 2 x 120mm Akasa PaxPower Amber fans.....needed 80mm....DOH !

Take of the NB/SB heatsinks, remove the asus digital covers from the sinks. Apply As5 to both NB/SB.. dont remove the Thermal Pad from the NB just the tim on the chip. Stick them back on and attach some fans to the heatsinks.

Great, kinda what I was thinking.....pretty sure I have stumbled across your pic somewhere before :)

Any hints on which of my 3 Akasa fans should go where ? I am thinking the 2 cm high one (AK-161) on the SB (if it fits under my 2nd X1900XT) or possibly the one with it's own heatsink attached (AK-210) ? And the 1cm high one (AK-160) on the NB ?

I had to offset the fan on the SB to accomodate the stock cooler on my X1900XT it over hangs by about 1 cm, but I do only have one. A 1cm high fan will not fit between SB and stock X19xx cooler.

DOH.....could be a stumbling block.... :(

OK, got one of the Akasa 4cm fans now happily plonked onto the freshly 'removed-cleaned-AS5'd-reseated' Northbridge.....and did the same to the CPU (Ninja Plus) and Southbridge.........and....as noted, Kitten, couldn't get an other Akasa onto the SB - Booo !

Well, the temps seem a touch lower (bit early to tell, I guess) but big airflow issues in my case methinks - CPU idles at approx 50 in TAT, up to early 60s under load, whereas with side panel off at 41 idle and circa 50 under load...

I did put 2 x 8cm fan as intakes (sucking air over HDDs) into case, but they used to be on exhaust duties so not really any better off :(

Anyone got any thoughts on getting rid of more temps ? I can't help thinking my Crossfire X1900 setup is causing most of the heat..... :(
