Has anybody got/had one of these tuners?

If so would you advise against or for it ? or could you sugest a better tv tuner which OC stocks

Thanks.

i have one and it does the job quite well, tis cheap too. I'd probly go for the Terratec Cinergy 2400i if i was buying again tho ;)

i have the videomate T200a from this site, its pretty good im sure other models like the one you mentioned are similar i got this one because it can pick up HDTV freeview if/when it gets aired

The HVR1300 DVB-T with hardware mpeg is what I use. The quality of the recordings are indistinguishable from the live broadcast. Pausing TV works a dream. I have read that although the bundled software does not do this, it is possible to connect a card reader and access encrypted channels with this tuner. I will not go into details, but needless to say this can be a legit card or otherwise. As there are no encrypted channels I am interested in enough to buy a card for, or to put the required effort into hacking, I cannot confirm this.

I would recommend identifying two or three tuners you are interested in then check out the support forums for them. You will soon discover the benefits/drawbacks of the tuners you select.

It's always a good move with new and unknown hardware, to check out the support forum for the product.

Tried and tested. its the best way google some cards if they have good reviews and people enjoy watching them choose one of them! dont forget to get a dual tuner card if you want to record on chan while watching another!

does it take 2 - 3 seconds to change channel like my nova-t does?? or is that common on most tv cards?

The Nova-T-500 has twin tuners for one. ;)

I am looking at getting either the WinTV-Nova-T-500 or WinTV-HVR-1300, the main difference between the two seems to be that the 1300 is hardware encoded. I know basically what this means (processing done on card so saves cpu) but was wondering if there will be any difference in performance between the 2 to justify the extra cost of the 1300?

The hardware encoder is for the analogue side of the HVR-1300, the Nova-T 500 is a dual digital tuner so it doesn't need hardware encoding.

I had a Nova T and a Pinnacle DVB-T ana/digital at same time side by side. The tuner on the Nova is total poo.. it was much fussier at finding channels and slower to change that the Pinnacle.

Haup is good for drivers etc but if the tuner isnt up to scratch what is the point?

Needless to say I sold the Nova.... ;)

Does the Nova T OR Pinnacle DVB-T support HiDef 1080i?

The Compro VideoMate says it can receive HDTV when they're broadcasting (such as in London the looping BBCHD channel?) and will record it.
