As per title, i'm looking for a killer Core2 air cooler. Ones i've been looking at that have bee getting good reviews are:

*Thermalright Ultra 120
*Tuniq Tower
*Scythe Infinity
*Scythe Ninja Rev B
*Thermalright SI-128

I'm looking for excellent cooling capacity at low-mid rpm that will take my E6600 to 3.6ghz while keeping it nice and cool.

Nice and easy, hassle-free fitting (ie: no mobo removal) is also a bonus, though Core2 seems to have this on most of the coolers.

Which would you reccommend and why? :)

Regards,

Rich.

Have a look at the Zalman 9700. My 9500 keeps my E6600 (3.55ghz 1.5v) at 49C on full RPM 53C on low rpm with dual prime running.

Hmm never been a fan (no pun intended) of Zalmans to be honest... they have never imressed me with design or performance, though sure they look nice.

Seriously considering the Thermalright Si-128 due to the airflow over the whole mobo, and the installation is a complete breeze. No to mention it seems to perform well with low rpm fans. Any more suggestions? :)

you can forget about the Tuniq Tower...... it's not easy to find in the UK.... I had to resort to that auction website to get one.......

We will have exclusive rights to the Tuniq Tower in the UK and have stock arriving on the 26th. The best cooler of all is the Titan Amanda but it carries a hefty price. The other coolers you have selected are also good along with the Zalman CNPS9700 which was also suggested.

Sorry but it's already in-stock at this very moment at another UK e-tailer... and has been for a wee while now. It costs £35 inc. Another OCUK exclusive eh? :D

As for the Zalman, it uses a proprietry fan that's a silly size and the price of it is absolutely scandalous. £45 exc shipping? No way hosay...

I'm using a crappy akasa 955 but it's keeping my E6300 around 40C on idle. Having some stability issues with the FSB at 285 on my Asrock board so I can't run prime to see what it gets up to. I might try checking what it gets up to with folding@home working.

Tuniq Tower
Why? runs my x6800 idle 27c with the fan on low,ive had mine for months now :D

Richdog you ask me to do some clocking on the Abit motherboard, well here it is, just got to tweak the ram to get it stable.
Cpu core volt 1.55v 55c idle
Ram 2.0 v

Tuniq Tower, cos it works.

Ambient 25C

Do you have to remove the mobo to install it?

Hmm.

I think someone has been lying ;)

I bought it yesterday, after being directed to them from XS, I couldn't wait any longer.

As for the daddy, i'd say the TT120 ;)

lol, or just a tad unknowledgeable the rest of UK market. :)

No offence mate but that's not a top-end cooler. :)

i totaly agree
im just saying ive had good results with it.
looked at expensive as well
this seemed too good to be true for the price
and imo it is
got my [email protected] on a ds4
stable for 20 hours with full load
temps about 60
im happy

Tom's put the Tuniq above the Scythe, and the Vanessa above both, if we're talking about "every website that reviews heatsinks" :) Me, I got a Freezer 7 Pro, since it'll probably do me just fine and it's dirt cheap. On sale this week too.
