anyone know what the warranty is like on this monitor? competitors offer it with a 2 year collect and drop warranty. does ocuk do the same?

ocuk are the cheapest in the uk on this screen. would like to order it within the next couple of hours so i can get it for friday.

gonna take a gamble here, every other competitor sells this monitor with the 2 year warranty so i will ASSUME ocuk will do no less either. have placed the order.

this screen will be hooked up to a pc all the time, probably the one with the 9800pro in it. and will be used mainly for gaming and watching films etc. will do a full review of this screen when it arrives. since i placed order few mins ago i assume that the screen should be with me on friday.

manufacturers warantee on that one. straight in touch with them with any issues.

all the monitors there are manufacturers warantee once sold.

yea. manufacturer does the warranty according to other sites. looks like its onsite collect and drop too. but from the reviews on this screen so far i have not heard of any problems with them although they do seem to be on the cheapo side.

ok its been despatched so should be with me tomorrow. if anyone is interested i can post up a full review when i recieve it along with pics??

Yes please. Can't decide between this as the Hyundai E320D

ok you will get a full review when i get back from work. hopefully it should be here tomorrow as ocuk emailed me earlier saying its been despatched on next day delivery.

my main use for this screen will be to hook it up to one of my pc's and use if for gaming and general windows work so will get a good idea how how crisp the test is that it displays.

Would be VERY keen to know how it would function as a monitor. Thinking of making it my main PC monitor, which is perhaps 40% windows/office/internet, 30%music/video 30% games...

If you could let me know what connection you're using - DVI? And how blurry/bad it is from about 3 feet away...

a review would be amazing, as im thinking of buying this one for the centre of my living room.

seems such great value for money!!

yes it has arrived today

been fiddling with it to get the resolution working. have resorted to using powerstrip.

so far its very good. give me few hours then i will do a full review with photos

Cyber-Mav try a fast paced game and a dvd with a lot of black and movement please

yep just did, game i tried was toca race driver 3, problem is i can;t get it to run in the native rez only works at 1280x768 so its not as sharp as it should be, same with battlefield 2 but the gfx look really good and its very nice, no ghosting at all.

windows is brilliant too, using powerstrip to force 1360x768 so i loose 3 pixels per side horizontally but the image is otherwise perfect. proper sharp.

ok where do i begin.

the tv comes in a massive box very well packaged up so no chance of it getting scratched up. a seperate smaller box comes with the tv and has:
1) a power cable (standard pc psu type)
2) a vga - vga cable for pc connection
3) scart cable
4) audio cable for plugging into sound card on pc then into the line in jack on the screen.

the back of the screen has 2 plastic removable panels that house the connectors in them. easy to work with.
also recieved a remote control and 2 AA batteries for it.
the screen has built in speakers, 3 each side for a total of 6. 2 of the 6 seem to be smaller than the other 4 so they are probably the tweaters.
back of lcd also has 2 scart inputs and lots of other connector inputs, looks like rgb inputs along with svideo and other funky ones. may take a picture later to explain better.

the above pics are crappy and i will take more during the day time tomorrow.

No dead pixels at all on the screen.
build quality is very good, very heavy. i expected it to be a lot lighter than it is.

the negatives first.

on screen display is in some other stupid language. but reading manual and about 4 button presses after it was set to english.

well there are only 2 negatives, first the real pain is the butt was to set the native rez since the 6800le thats running it is wounded in that 1366x768 would not work, it kept on running some other rez called 1360 or 1368x768. but powerstrip fixed that and now all the text is sharp.

next negative is that although i can use this monitor for general windows use as in word processing and web surfing it would have benefitted from a higher resolution. everything seems to be LARGE but its not like outputting to a crt tv where text is blurry. this screen is brilliant and its quality is similar to the hanns G 19inch tft i have.

also 1280x1024 works on this tv but text is blurry etc since its not in its native rez when doing that. this screen really suffers if its not run in its native rez.

worst of all it makes my 19inch tft and 21inc crt look like tiny pda screen :p

POSITIVES

NOW, video quality i can now really tell that the encoded films etc i have are really crap in quality since on a large screen you really can see the difference between a 1cd rip and 2cd rip of films. i will be encoding all my films at a higher resolution and bit rate from now on.

i played the HD video of the Elephants Dream short free movie and it was the 1920x1080 version. the quality is absolutly superb. the blacks on this screen are amazing. they match the quality of the hanns G 196D i have easily. looks like it really lives up to its 8ms rating. very nice screen.

will try and see if i can force the games to run in its native rez tomorrow perhaps.

this screen is deffo worth more money than its being charged at. very slick frame, fits in well with its surroundings.

for pc gaming im guessing its gonna be a bit of trouble to get its native rez to work and probably the 27inch screen which has the 1280x720 standard rez would be far easier to setup. but only time will tell for me when i start to fiddle with it tomorrow.

will add more to this review as i play around more with the screen.

x1900 pc is the one on the far right with the crt on it. not tried it yet on the lcd though, need to first find out if i can get the games to run at its native rez first then will swap the screens around.

yes the desktop does look very sharp for a tv its very impressive. no flickering no eyestrain. no problems with it at all yet other then the resolution issure bu thats probaly gfx card/software related.

tv also has hdmi inputs but not sure what they are used for.

impressive... but isnt it a bit close to your face when using it with that keyboard in the middle (assuming you sit at the desk and not away from it)

OT - lol at the external diy fan on that large tower pc on the right of the photo :p ... also... CLEAN that dust of those pc's.. that black one is terrible
