well ive decided like many to join the Widescreen bandwagon coming from a 24" CRT it really is a monster

my main time is taken up by World of Warcraft and Movies so a WS monitor is just the next logical step it seems.

now i can strech upto £300 as long as my g/f doesnt know about it ;)
no im sure i can get either monitor for under my set price but which one to choose i dont know.

im wanting a Dell for the USB and DVi imput which im hoping will make life easier for me and much more colourful to boot and im intending on getting on of those Freeview thing's to put into the back of the monitor also hence freeing up our plasma.

SOOOOO can anyone remommend which one i should choose / which is good for games and dvds / which is less prone to dead pixels.

cheers all i know it must have been asked before at some point but i appriciate any imput.

Do you mean the 2007WFP and the 2005FPW?

In that case, just get the 2007WFP — the 2005FPW is just the older version of this which is no longer on sale. There aren't any significant changes between the two aside from appearances (new stand, bezel), although I believe they have tweaked with the panel a bit in the 2007WFP to improve performance.

Edit: Changes between the 2005FPW and the 2007WFP are as follows:

  • Newer styling, as already stated
  • Stated viewing angles are ever-so-slightly greater
  • Contrast ratio is greater (800:1 as opposed to 600:1 in the 2005FPW)
  • IPS/PVA panel instead of the VA, IPS panels in the 2005FPW — although there is a great deal of controversy with regards to the panels Dell use in their LCDs, so this may be incorrect

i'd suggest the 2007WFP would be a better choice. It has an updated panel with better performance, new design, HDCP support and also doesnt suffer from the widely reported backlight bleed issues that the 2005FPW model did. Bit of info about the changes from 2005FPW to 2007WFP here along with my look at the 2007WFP here if it helps :)
