MGS4 on the Xbox 360?

GamersReports.com has posted this article about how the cover of December’s issue of EGM clearly says “Metal Gear Solid 4 on Xbox 360?”. Could this be the final blow to the major exclusives PS3 has over the Xbox? See the cover after the jump.

It’s a big mystery, since obviously someone could’ve created this work of art in their spare time. It still brings excitement to what will probably be a slow news weekend.

[Update: The EGM cover is confirmed to be real, stay tuned to Xboxic.com for more updates concerning the actual contents of the magazine (Due to be out next week.)]

[Update 2: Che Chou, ex-1UP staffer and developer at Microsoft’s Forza 2 team, has this to say about the whole deal:

It’s simply a rumor that Konami higher-ups are pressuring Kojima Productions to consider making MGS4 a multiplatform game because production costs on the game are unsurprisingly high and only getting higher. With PS3 install base numbers not looking all that rosy due to console cost and manufacturing problems, Konami is scared they can’t recoup their investment on only 1 platform alone.

It’s also a nice way to maybe blackmail Sony into giving Konami an incentive to keeping the game a PS3 exclusive, imo.

Nothing Official yet but it sounds intresting........

MS have the cash to splash to game publishers, Sony doesnt it only have previous sales to fight with.

I dont like the MGS series anyway. The first one was awesome after that it went abit to boring.

Same here, would be great if it did come out on the 360, though I can see Sony fighting tooth and nail for it.

i only liked the 1st one also, the2nd was Okish and the last was just dire.

Wont happen, Kojima has been the poster boy for the PS3 and seems to be doing great things with the PS3. The whole game is built around using the cell exactly, squeezing power out of it and i dare say he will start using the tilt.
Maybe after about 2 years it will have a really bad port onto the 360, like MGS2 substance was on the xbox, but meh doesn't really matter after that though.

It would be good if they could pull it off but somehow i dont see it happening.

I Found the later games too short the storys a bit strange and to many movies !

The MGS series just doesnt have the pull it once did for me......

Gotta love how somebody round here feels the need to defend the PS3 at every opportunity

Anyway, the mag cover looks pretty fake imo... since when has anyone seen let alone played Halo 3? I could be very wrong, but anyway.

MGS is hardly the biggest of series nowdays and I don't really think many people will stay loyal to Sony for it. If it was something like Final Fantasy it would be a different matter... just my opinion.

I can't work out if it's a good or bad thing that all the 'exclusives' for MS or Sony seem to be merging between formats... we are going to end up with two near identical machines.

I can see this happening, what with the huge budgets for games now, it makes more sense, hell itll proberly happpen a few months later with added bits that you can only see on x360 or something like that

1st and 2nd were classics, after that they are just dodgy.
But like a lot of games after one too many sequels they go naff

PS3 can keep it I never liked any of the series anyway. What are the unlockables this time bandana, stealth suit and zimmer frame?

Its real, EGM (www.1up.com) Is doing a 17 page cover story about it in next months issue while 1up.com is going to be releasing bits of information over a 3 week period in november.

MGS is the only thing I missed out on by getting an Xbox 360 instead of a PS3. I believe Square Enix may be bringing out the FF series to Xbox 360 - they've already got FF online on Xbox 360.
