Wii - Official Nintendo Mag - Play the Wii Dates/720p???

Might as well expand this thread, Nintendo are doing a roadshow where you can play the Wii (Similar to the Gears of War 360 tour). Get to try it a month before release and put those fears to bed. Dates below :-

They advise you to phone Nintendo on 0870 6060247 to confirm it's still going ahead on the day you plan going as dates are subject to change.


My latest copy of the official Nintendo Mag is claiming in it's Wii Hardware roundup that the wii will be capable of running 720i and 720p through component. I thought 480p was the supposed supported progressive res?

For those who have it Page 58 (Wii Launch feature - Vital Statistics)

"At the time of going to print, Wii games will output in 720i and 720p - 720i is your standard TV picture, 720p is a higher quality signal that takes advantage of the improved picture possible on plasma, progressive scan or LCD displays."

Edit :- Looks like they've fluffed their figures big style :)

The need to check their figures :)

For normal PAL, 576i is your standard TV picture, or 480i for PAL60 (60Hz PAL is same resolution as NTSC (525 lines total))

It actually says that? :eek: Unbelievable :) They are right about 720p being better, the only trouble is the Wii doesn't output at 720p but never mind...
 
Would anyone be surprised if the Wii could do 720p/i
I mean nobody thought the DS was Wi-Fi enabled, just a proprietary nintendo format, and look what happened.
Think this might be a wee secret nintendo will reveal when sales slow a wee bit

I thought they made it clear that they weren't entering into the High Def arena?
 
It would prove a lot of screenshots that have been circulating recently. The dev machine can do 720, so can't see any reason why the final one wouldn't.
