I'm trying to figure out which version i'll be going for, and would love to know what versions you guys here are going to be purchasing, and what your reasons are for your decision.

Premium. Im a gamer and i dont need none of that bloated crap yet lol. Maybe buisness depending on what is actually diffrent between them all. If someone can shed some light on whats included on the diffrent versions it would be cool.

If/when I do, it would have to be Ultimate. I would miss the media functions if I went with Business, but I need Remote Desktop so it's Ultimate for me.

It's pretty poor that Remote Desktop isn't in the Home edition.. then again there's VNC/Dameware but they lack a lot of the functionality of RDP.

How many "home users" use it? Plus factor in that it was only available in XP Professional, and it makes perfect sense for it to only be included in the buisness editions.

the buisness one for me, I mean what does that Vista media centre do?

Burn CD's DVD's? I can think of software just as good if not better currently out.

I use it  If for example I'm at work and want to connect to my XP desktop at home to sort/move some files or share a directory so my home web server can pick up some new files, it's absolutely necessary. Plus on occasions when I've been at my brother's place fixing his pc I will RDP home to check some settings on my XP box.

So does it mean that Remote Assistance will not be there either?

Granted, not all home users will use it but IMHO it is more than a "business" tool :)

I'm running ultimate on both my desktop and laptop pc's. I've not setup Bitlocker yet, but may well do on the laptop. Shame it needs 2 partitions though.

i'm torn between home premium and ultimate... i like the sound of the security and backup facilities on ultimate but for the extra £100 i could probably buy third party software that will do the job for me... i'll decide in feb and knowing me it'll be ultimate (just incase i need it)

Bussiness Enterprise, but I am staying with XP Pro for about another year. IMO the Media Centre is pretty lame and I don't see myself using it on my desktop computer.

Windows Vista Enterprise.

-edit-

I might get Bussiness whatever looks the pwn. Only difference is Windows BitLocker Full Drive Encryption TBH.

To be honest, I hope to get a Mac when Leopard comes out so I only need Vista for DirectX 10 gaming. Which probably means a version of Home Basic. Lord knows what the "Ultimate Extras" are going to be though.
