Hi All,

As a life long Bolton fan, I must say we're looking good this season, Anelka looks like he actually gives a **** about the club and it's all coming together, anyone else think we might make the champs league next season?

Cheers

The day bolton get in the champions league group stage is the day i give up my season ticket at liverpool and start watching competitive tiddlywinks.
I take it you didn't say that when Everton got in there. ;)

They didn't.

What amuses me most about Everton fans is their delusional belief they were in the Champions League. They were in the qualifying rounds for it, nothing more.

I know they didn't, but when people talk about making the champions league they are referrring to finishing in the top 4, which Everton did.

Granted, but you just said Everton got there, referring to the champions league.

Don't wanna seem like i am being pedantic but it is amazing how many Evertonians believe they were in the Champions League.

But as I have pointed out, when I said that they got there I was only referring to them finishing in the top 4.

I probably misread your post tbh, given that you were refering to Bolton getting into the group stages. :)

You want your strongest teams in the CL every time, not one that has fluked in with a lucky season (eg Hearts). This is because any coefficient points gained in a season are divided by the number of teams from that country that entered any European competitions. So even though it might be nice for Bolton to fluke into the CL, they would probably get spanked in a qualifying round and England's overall coefficent would suffer (as has happened in Scotland this year - even though we've got 2 teams in after Xmas for the first time in about 30 years our coefficient will suffer with Hearts and Gretna's embarrassing performances).
