Comodo do an fantastic Antivirus and a Firewall program. Free for life too! Awesome.
I'm trying to download that. Not happy with Antivir so I'm looking for alternatives.

I've put my name and email addy into the fields and gotten two emails but where do I download the actual installer from?

Strange as it should have let you download when you entered your email details.

I use Comodo firewall and have been impressed so far.
Not sure about free antiviruses. I did use AVG but it missed quite a few viruses that NOD32 picked up.

I feel that Active Virus Shield must be regarded as the best free AV at the moment, despite it being AOL branded. It uses the fabled Kaspersky AV engine which regularly tops AV comparisons - why bother paying for Kaspersky?

I have Ashampoo Firewall installed too - nice and simple, light on resources, does everything I need it to.

;)

Give the Sunbelt Kerio firewall a go.

I used this a lot when i was on Windows, came highly recommended, and i would also agree with that recommendation :)

Casmeister.

Just put on Active virus shield on my sisters computer.

I updated it, then restarted like instructed.

Then when I boot up everything doesn't respond and asks me to send an error report

(msn, comodo firewall, explorer.exe, Firefox, basically everything that runs up on startup)

And this crap is supposed to be good??

It's looking uber so far. /sarcasm

Avast don't use comdo it's carppppp. Had comodo crash on 2 separate computers. Disabling any internet access, Fine once uninstalled.

Used to use zonealarm, but if you use a router, just use windows fw

The firewall is great... but the antivirus is awful and I wouldn't use it.

Best free anti-virus is probably Antivir, but remember you can get the AOL Active Virus Shield, which is essentially Kaspersky 6 rebranded and that is the best of the best.

Sadly, AOL security Suite is Mcaffee rebranded. Its AOL Active Virus Shield thats Kaspersky. Just so nobody makes a mistake.

Ahh wasn't aware they also did a Mcrappy re-branded version too. Good call. :)

Havent tried it, but I've been told NOD32 is a good anti-virus; and lightweight too.

I used to use Prevx as a Firewall and found it very good for a free application. Im not sure if its free anymore though.
