You may think this is a pointless thread but if you would, would you please do this for me please i would be very grateful.

Anyway if you had £1000 to spend on a PC what specs would you get, just the tower no monitor, mouse, speakers etc. It cant be more than £1000, thats your budget.

CPU (Processor) -

CPU + Heatsink -

Motherboard -

Memory (Ram) -

Graphics Card -

Hard Drive -

Case -

Power Supply -

And what would you use the system for.

Thanks very much if you do take part. Thank you :) :) :)

Heres a quick one I drew up.

This system offers good overclocking potential. You could swap the 2x ATi cards drop down to a 520w corsair and you mite be able to squeeze in a 8800GTS.

<thread hijack>

Can anyone get a working system for EXACTLY £1000?

Is their much diffrence between the 8800 GTS and the GTX?

Now im thinking about getting a 8800 but downgrading a few other parts.

This is what i have so far

Cpu (Processor) - Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 £149.21 inc VAT - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-127-IN

Motherboard - Asus P5B Deluxe (Socket 775) £123.36 inc VAT - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-150-AS

Graphics Card - HIS ATI Radeon X1950 XT ICEQ 3 TURBO SILENT £196.21 inc VAT http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-067-HT

Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB £66.96 inc VAT - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-078-SE

Case - Thermaltake VA3000BWA Tsunami Dream £75.19 inc VAT - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-010-TT

Power Supply - Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular £99.86 inc VAT - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-CS

What would you suggest i downgrade to fit the 8800 card in?

Go with the DS3 instead of the DS4, save you a few quid. If you want a PSU for a single 8800, then choose the Corsair 520w or similar brand. Also consider the E6300 as you can clock them to and well beyond E6400 stock speeds. You could also consider the GeiL Value PC-5300 RAM as I've heard it clocks very well.

When is the point where one part of my equipment The 8800 GTS will like overpower the rest? If you see what i mean

My budget is 1000 Pounds.

I dont think the 8800 will overpower the CPU. Maybe up the RAM to some PC6400 if your scared of bottlenecking

The 520W PSU is better for that system, 620W is overkill IMO.

The E6300 is far better value for money than the E6400, so get the E6300 and it will easily clock up to even E6600 speeds.

I would rather you get a Tuniq Tower cooler - the one that is on the deal of the week right now.

Mobo fine. Graphics fine. The case - if you like it then go for it, everyone has their opinions on cases and your the one whos going to be looking at it every day. HDD fine - I have this.

As regards the RAM, the OCUK value 2GB ram is fine if your not going to be doing hardcore overclocking :)

Hope this helps.

how about the system with the mega graphics card in lol the 8800 GTS?

Do you think the graphics card is a slight overkill for the rest of the system?
