Sapphire Announces X1950 Pro Dual "Godfather"

Sapphire today announced its X1950 Pro powered single-card CrossFire graphics solution: the X1950 Pro Dual. DailyTech previously revealed details of the card last month. The monstrous graphics card is compatible with any PCI Express x16-equipped motherboard whether or not it is compatible with CrossFire.

Good Lord.

Bye bye Crossfire? Well, maybe not...

Essentially, the new Sapphire behemoth can support "Quad-CrossFire."

*gags*

Yeah who the hells gona buy that heap over a GTS, they do have to do something to at least try to stop Nvidia dominance seen as they aint getting R600 out till April, but old cards slapped together is not the way to do it, oh dear ATi, everyone will still buy G80's sorry. :(

Yet another very late and very missed opportunity! :(

Would still be interested to see how it stacks up against my GX2 though!

gt

They think ppl are going to buy an old Gen Dx9 card over a cheaper next gen Dx10 GTS that will totally decimate it, yeah sure ATi, you have absolutely no clue at all. :D

Depends on the pricing of the card on release me thinks. If it only costs £180-210 some people might be tempted, depending on what the performance is like with the internal crossfire.

Seems an odd release, but then, is it entirely ATi controlled, or was it a Sapphire pushed move?

I can't see it being that cheap, its going to have to be dearer than 1x single x1950pro, otherwise single ones would not sell anymore as everyone would say stuff that ill just buy 2x as they cheaper, so no one would buy HIS, Connect3D etc..., they would be producing cards that are going to sit in warehouses as no one will want them, i mean who would if you can buy 2x of em cheaper.

The dearest single one is £186 (£176 on the 'This Week Only'), i just can't see them knocking out these for less than singles, unless they really drop the price on singles, which they would have to if the started knocking out 2x for cheaper, as no way would they sell.

Well all dependant on price i guess.....just depends how cheap they can get them out there, they really would have to be £250 tops but the 8800GTS can be had for a little over that!

Well if u already have one and put this new one in too you'd have....tri SLi :P

grrrr, NO NO NO NO NO NO! i used to take the **** out of Nvidia for effectively being corporate whores and bolting together 2X 7900GT`s to call it the 7950GX2 in an effort to sell 2X 7900GT`s to people with only 1 PCI-E slot and was very happy up on my high horse too damnit :(

EDIT: aha! i take that back as ive just noted unlike nvidia its a true dual GPU single card solution, my faith is restored. :D

LOL, just LOL.

I don't get what it is with people recently and this ability to peer into the future and see what performance unreleased cards will give.

Or maybe you all have engineering samples of this card and are in fact breaking your NDA's?

This card *may* or *may not* be a good idea. If they can give 8800GTS performance for around £50 cheaper, it will probably tempt a lot of people. I know I wouldn't pay extra for support of an as yet useless technology.

Only a stupid person dismisses a card as "pointless" without seeing performance numbers first.

LOL! :p Nor do you by the sounds of it.
You don't have any idea of the performance of the card in Dx9 and for all we know the 8800 GTS might suck at playing DX10 games.

If the price is right, then this might be a good solution for a year, until the decent DX10 cards come out. :D

Funny really, AMD and ATi are both losing to their competitors and now they have both released crap, ATi being the "dual X1950" and AMD with it's so called "Quad Core" FX :D

Yes, let's not forget the failure known as the 7900GX2, the contraption known as the 7950GX2, and the 5% RMA machine known as the 7900GT. Aye, it's all ATI and AMD.

Come on, I think this "Godfather" thing is a pile of crap too but this is just turning into another ATI bashing thread now. Some of you just can't help it, it's like you're on the payroll.

It's not that, I just think that people are developing a habit of not reading the damn threads first.
